EVA KEFFER
Eva (Zacharias) Keffer of
Brussels, passed away at Huronlea
Home for the Aged on Sunday, May
3, 2009. Born in Horndean,
Manitoba, Eva was in her 86th year.
Eva was the beloved wife of the
late Alex Keffer, who predeceased
her in 2004. She was the dear mother
of Debbie Keffer and Richard White
and Rhonda Fischer and husband
Bruce, all of RR3, Brussels. Eva was
also loved by her grandchildren Julie
Cloakey, Cheryl Becker, and Marc
and Cassie Fischer, her four great-
grandchildren, her brothers, sisters,
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her
parents, Jacob and Tina Zacharias.
Cremation has taken place.
A family graveside service will
take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery,
Ethel at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
the Alzheimer Society of Huron
County.

SHIRLEY EMILY
RUTLEDGE-CROSS
Mrs. Shirley Emily (Wallace)
Rutledge-Cross of Blyth passed
away at Clinton Public Hospital on
Friday, May 1, 2009. She was in her
84th year.
Shirley was born in Blyth, Ontario
on June 1, 1925, a daughter of the
late Irvine Seymour Wallace and the
late Dorothy Beatrice (Howard)
Wallace.
She was the beloved wife of
Charles Cross and the late Leslie
Rutledge, who predeceased her in
1997. She was the loving mother and
mother-in-law of Robert and Jean
Rutledge of Brampton, Larry and
Janet Rutledge of RR 3, Clinton,
Gwendolyn and Don Brander of
Norval, Richard and Heather
Rutledge of Clinton and Dr. Kenneth
and Helen Rutledge of Inverary. She
was also loved and will be sadly
missed by 12 grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren. She was the
dear sister and sister-in-law of Bev
and Helen Wallace of
Londesborough, June Wallace of
Goderich and Bill Marshall of RR5,
Clinton. Shirley is also survived by
several nieces and nephews.
Her sister, Irma Tyndall-Marshall,
a brother Howard Wallace and her
brother-in-law Kenneth Tyndall
predeceased her.
Visitation was held at the Falconer
Funeral Homes Ltd., Blyth
Visitation Centre, 407 Queen St.,Blyth on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 -9 p.m. where the funeral service was
held on Tuesday, May 5 at 3 p.m.
Pastor Ernest Dow of Living Water
Christian Fellowship, Blyth
officiated.
Flowerbearers were Julie
Kennedy, Amanda Rutledge, Laura
Rutledge, Lorraine Schatzler, Shandi
Shaw and Lisa Shipley.
Pallbearers were Tyler Brander,
Gary Rutledge, Greg Rutledge,
Murray Shaw, Bill Howson and
Bruce Howson.
A graveside service was held at
the Eden United Church Cemetery,
Mississauga (Streetsville)
Wednesday, May 6 at 3 p.m.
Donations to the Clinton Public
Hospital Foundation, Town and
Country Homemakers, Living Water
Christian Fellowship or the charity
of one’s choice would be appreciated
by the family as expressions of
sympathy.
RODNEY FURNESS
Rodney Furness of Blyth and
formerly of Lucknow, died on April
23, 2009 at the Clinton Hospital in
his 59th year.
He will be greatly missed by his
mother Florence Furness of
Lucknow and his children, Rob
Furness of Lucknow, Eric and Vicky
of Kinloss Twp.,Andy and Wendy of
Whitechurch, and Jamie and Connie
of British Columbia. Rodney is also
survived by his former wife Jean
Furness of Lucknow, by his eight
grandchildren and his brother Bob
Furness of Whitechurch.A funeral service was conductedfrom MacKenzie and McCreath
Funeral Homes, Lucknow Chapel
on Tuesday, April 28 at 2 p.m. Rev.
Peggy Kinsman officiated. Visitation
was held for two hours prior to the
service.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Furness,
Bob Furness, Patrick Ritchie and
Raymond Riley. Flowerbearers were
his grandchildren, Jessica Furness,Barbara-Jean Furness, GavinFurness, Gloria Ritchie and Paula
Ritchie.
Memorial donations to the Royal
Canadian Legion, Blyth Branch 420
or to the Alzheimer Society would
be appreciated.

Joe Austin opened the first 2009
meeting of Bluewater Canadian
Council of the Blind with O’
Canada and The Lord’s Prayer.
Marj Claus read the minutes of the
last meeting. She gave the roll call
with 25 members answering, how
they spent the winter.
The treasurer’s report was given
by Bill Flynn. Marie Flynn handled
business for the following year.
Happy birthday was sung to those
celebrating April birthdays.
Gordon Hill informed members of
the many CNIB outlets opening in
towns and cities besides Toronto to
purchase aids used by the blind, a
different format to pick same up on
the same day.
Learning to love ourselves was a
short story read by Marj Claus.
Jim and Elaine Scott entertained
with a sing-along.
He wished all mothers a happy
Mother’s Day.
Dorothy Bolton said grace and
thanked the helping hands who
served lunch.
