BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, May 3 were Joan and
Lavern Clark. Ushering were
Terry Richmond, Elaine Chamney,
Lori Brooks and Earl Fyfe.
Brett Glousher lit the candles at the
front of the church. Rev. Gray
Clark introduced Floyd Herman to
the congregation as the new
organist and choir director. He
also introduced Liz Herman as a new
choir member. Margaret
Kai was back to play the piano
and accompany the new
organist.
The ten young adults of the
confirmation class will join the
church next Sunday, May 10.
Clean up day for Camp
Menesetung and Blyth’s cabin is
Saturday, May 9. Many hands
make less work. Lorna Fraser
gave the minutes for Camp
Menesetung. She explained
some of the camp’s
activities.
The children were asked to
come to the front and prepare
the baptism font by pouring in the
water and each of them putting
their finger in the water and asking God to Bless this event. Thefamilies asked to come forward were Tyler and Heather Stewart andtheir daughter Brya Evalyn andShane and Candice Dale and their son Ryder Harold James to be baptized. Rev. Clarkintroduced the babies to the
congregation.
Ally Glousher carried the candle
as the children went downstairs for
their worship during the singing of
the hymn, I Was There to Hear Your
Borning Cry. The gospel reading
was John 20: 19-31.
The choir sang an anthem, Love
Was When.
Rev. Clark’s message for the
adults was, I Want God With Flesh
On.
The scripture was about Thomas
doubting that the disciples had seen
Jesus. It is good to have a little
doubt.
Rev. Clark told the story of a
little child afraid of a
thunderstorm and the mother
trying to comfort her and getting her
to go back to her room by
telling her that she was not
alone that God was with
her. Her answer was that
she wanted a God with flesh
on.
Resurrections, said Rev. Clark is
that Christ is with people in
whatever they do. Pray for truth and
healing and be ready to sit with
those who are hurting.
The hymn in the Bulb is a Flower
was sung.
