The tulips are prettily blowing in
the breeze making the world smile.
After the mess with the hydro out
last week, the effects of all the rain
are quite evident.
The land is turning green before
our eyes, each day you can see the
growth. Spring is such a miraculoustime, the changes that happen dailyafter a little rain, warm air andsunshine.Saturday was a happy day for me.All my four brothers were in oneplace at one time and I was withthem. With Bob in Bobcageon, Billin Hamilton, Clif in Edmonton andJim in Hallville, and each busy with
family and community commitment,
reunions are rare. We had a great
time catching up, sharing life,
viewing and taking pictures, and of
course eating.
Heredity is an amazing thing when
granddaughters in Barrie look like
Meghan from Edmonton and Wade
from Hallville walks an awful lot like
Dad did. Alma Hetherington and hercrew joined the party, hosted at Peteand Marion Keil’s home. So until thenext time, memories are great. The Callander girls’ reunion acouple of weeks ago was a reminderthat we all age in our own way andwe all maintain unique memories. We had a riot recalling incidents thathappened when the nursing home
was on Turnberry Street.
Staff from the 1970s shared stories
with those working now in the care
industry, and the changes are
significant.
It was great to laugh and chat with
folks who share Callander memories.
The soccer and ball teams are out
and about getting ready for the
season. Energy and enthusiasm aresuch fun to watch in action.Rev. Tom Murray was officiallywelcomed to Huron Perth Presbyteryof the United Church of Canada onSunday evening. His covenantingservice was held in Knox UnitedChurch, Belgrave. This service of worship sharespromises, hopes and dreams of the
congregation, the presbytery and the
minister. It signifies a new beginning
for the work of the church in our
world.
Welcome Tom and Brenda to our
community.
Planning ahead – the village
garage sale is on May 30, so start
sorting treasures now. Also, check
out the Blyth Festival brochure of the
plays for the 2009 season. They are
hot off the press. Think hard and fast
and get your tickets soon. They all
look like winners.
May is filled with lots of fun things
to do and see, so share the joy of the
season. Get out there and meet
someone new.
Bye now, Betty G.W.

The Grey Kurtious Kidz 4-H
meetings two and three were
combined. They were held on May
2.
There were 13 of the 16 members
present. After saying the 4-H pledge
they got an introduction to
introductions – how to introduce two
people who don’t know each other.
They also learned how to give a
good handshake.
Then they got different art
supplies and each made a thank you
card and a hostess gift. When they
finished they answered table dos and
table don’ts – what to do and not do
at the table.
The leaders told them that they
had to set a proper table setting. This
was very tricky. Then they learned
how to eat soup and butter buns
properly.
They tried to figure out what
French words on a menu meant.
The meeting closed with the 4-H
motto, Learn to do by Doing.
New 4-H Club begins in Grey
