By Kathleen Stennett The Wawanosh Bush Whackers took advantage of Friday’s nice weather and went to Wawanosh Lake for an evening of canoeing and hiking. After playing a quick game of Spud, the meeting started with the 4- H pledge and roll call, What’s one food a camper could use? Next, everyone was split into three groups based on their canoeing experience. Then the club was split into two groups. One went hiking and the other canoeing. The hikers went on a trail by the lake. Members saw fungus, a snapping turtle, and talked about setting up camp. The canoers watched a demonstration about wearing appropriate-sized lifejackets, and how to canoe, then set out on the lake. After, they switched activities, then got back together and talked about the camping trip next weekend. The camping trip is at the Wawanosh Nature Centre on May 1 and 2. Stand up East Wawanosh Public School was host to a radio show presentation last week by Bruce Langford of Stand Up Now Productions. Langford hosted a radio show, sang and danced, all while educating the students on the topic of bullying. He took calls and questions, making sure he covered all of the bases on his radio show.
