The Municipality of North Huronlaunched its new logo at theirvolunteer appreciation evening inBlyth last week. The logo, a silhouette of a Canadian Goose in front of a sun, positioned over a river will be used extensively on municipal property and in print and marketing material. “We wanted an updated look that would more accurately reflect the attributes we value of the area in which we live”, said Connie Goodall, community development co-ordinator for North Huron. “ We enlisted the help of focus groups from each of our communities, as well as, municipal staff. The resulting logo designed by Erin Wilson of Goderich portrays many of the ideas put forward by those groups. We found that unanimously we valued our safe, green, vibrant and clean communities and felt that some of our greatest assets are our access to outdoor activities and our picturesque rural landscape”. The existing North Huron logo, created in 2001 will continue to be used on traditional documents. We are glad to hear that Susan Haggitt is home from hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery. Nancy Daer of Wingham celebrates a very special birthday on May 5. It’s time to mark your calendar for the Community Vacation Bible School to be held in the Christian Reformed Church from July 27 - 31, 9 a.m. to noon. Their theme is Sun Rock Kids Camp. All the churches in the community are taking part. Twenty-seven seniors enjoyed a potluck dinner at Memorial Hall on Wednesday, April 22. The program was in charge of Lawrence and Jean Plaetzer. Their guest was Bruce Robertson of Wingham. He took the group on a sentimental journey through memory of songs he sang as he accompanied himself on the guitar. He had toes tapping and heads nodding as people recalled the familiar words and music. A short business meeting, chaired by the president, Shirley Nicholson, followed. There are still a few seats left for the August bus trip. BLYTH UNITED CHURCH Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, April 26, were Terry and Barb Richmond. Ushering were Karen Glousher, Terry Richmond and Myrtle Badley. Amanda Swartzentruber was pianist. Clean up day for Camp Menesetung and Blyth’s cabin is Saturday, May 9. Many hands make less work. The call to worship was followed by the prayer of approach and the first hymn, Come and Find the Quiet Centre. The first scripture reading was John 20: 10-18. The children came to the front for their story time. Rev. Gary Clark asked them what things belonged on the communion table? They answered the Bible, candles, and Sunday school candle. The Baptism Font also belonged at the front of the church. The cross that laid against the table did not belong where it was but it did belong on the wall above the table, they agreed. Rory Bromley lit the candles on the table. The hymn, And On This Path was sung while the children went downstairs for their time of worship. Connor Brooks carried the candle down to Sunday school. The second scripture Acts 10: 9- 33. The choir sang an anthem, Dona Nobis Pacem. Rev. Clark’s message for the adults was, Holding onto What? There were two stories told in that morning scripture. Mary was told by Jesus not to hold unto Him, and He was not staying on earth and Peter was told not to hang on to the things he had seen on the rooftop. Mary stayed at the tomb and when she looked in she saw two angels. They asked her why she was crying and she said that someone had taken Jesus’ body somewhere but she did not know where. She saw a man standing there and asked him if he knew where they had taken the body. The man answered, Mary and she knew that it was Jesus. Jesus told her to tell his disciples and she did. Prayers were followed by the benediction. A faceliftfor NH By Marilyn Craig Call 523-9318 From Marilyn’s Desk NEWS FROM BLYTH A
