HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2009-04-23, Page 16By Rev. Dave WoodHuron Chapel EMC, AuburnWhat a ride! It seems as if this ride of life is
one that never stops.
Some days it is like a roller
coaster with all its loops and hills
and twists and turns and other days
it is like driving down a prairiehighway, calm, cool andpredictable. Isn’t it great?
Who says space is the final
frontier when life is so full of
variety.
With the advent of spring, most
people are itching to get out thereand enjoy the sunshine and get theirhands dirty in their gardens andflowerbeds.
I imagine Fran has it all planned
out as she does every year and Anne
will once again have to rely on the
goodwill of others to beautify the
grounds. Some things never seem to
change.
But really, life is not stagnant, it is
always in flux and the disciples
learned that first Easter that when
one meets with the Risen Lord, life
is never the same again. Jesus took
a handful of wary and worn
disciples and transformed them into
a voice that would speak life and
bring hope to a waiting world.
The lives of these disciples of
Jesus changed and the change was
such that it rocked the known world
and the effects are evident to this
day.
Why? Because I believe we are
not dealing with a mere religion but
what we have here is an encounter
with a Risen Saviour, who is both
Christ and Lord. He continues
to speak. His voice can still be
heard. His call is to come and
follow Him.
Before Jesus ascended into
heaven, Matthew records that He
met with the eleven disciples and
gave to them a mission that would
change their lives.
It reads, “Then Jesus came to
them and said, “All authority in
heaven and on earth has been given
to me. Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always,to the very end of the age.”(NIV) This is the call that changes lives.
This is the Voice that continues to
cry out which is often ignored, shut-
out, rejected but also embraced,
adhered to and accepted.
The Voice of the Risen One is still
being heard. He is calling to all who
would hear to accept the mission, to
embrace the power of the
resurrected life and allow Him to
transform lives.
This spring as you delve into the
marvels of nature once more, take a
moment to listen for the voice of the
Risen Christ as He speaks to you.
Your life may never be the same
again.
Can you hear Him?

The band had just completed a
North American tour and was
happy to be back in Canada.
