Clean up day for Camp
Menesetung and Blyth’s cabin
Saturday, May 9. Many hands make
less work.
The call to worship was followed
by the prayer of approach and the
first hymn, Jesus Stand Among Us.
The first scripture reading was
John 20: 1-10.The children came to the front forstory time. Rev. Gary Clark showed them a picture of a manabout to step on a banana peel andone of a dog that slipped into a pool.He asked the children what camenext. He explained to the children thatthis is like the scripture they had justheard. The stone was rolled away
from the door of the cave where
Jesus’ body was laid to rest and the
women didn’t know what would
come next.
The hymn, I Danced in the
Morning was sung while the
children went downstairs for their
time of worship.
The second scripture was Acts 10:
34-43.
The choir sang an anthem, Praise
the Lord with the Sound of
Trumpets.
Rev. Clark’s message for the
adults was, Daring to Run from the
Tomb. There seems to be a lot of
running in the scriptures, he said.
Mary runs to tell Peter and John that
the stone had been rolled away from
the tomb. Peter and John run to seefor themselves. John was there firstbut he didn’t go in. Peter got thereand went into the tomb and foundthe grave clothes folded and thetomb was empty. Mary stayedoutside and wept. Peter and Johnwent home. When people are sad, said Rev.Clark it makes them feel better ifsomeone like Mary comforts them.
“God is always with us and with the
person that is comforting us,” he
said.
The next hymn was, God Who
Gives to Life its Goodness.
The Sunday school served
birthday cake and coffee to help
celebrate the April birthdays of the
congregation and Sunday school
members.
A short official board meeting was
held after church.
