Free rain barrels will start to roll
out a little earlier than planned for
the IBC/Wingham Rain Barrel Pilot
Project, the Twp. of North Huron
and Insurance Bureau of Canada
(IBC) announced Monday.
Wingham homeowners should
check their mail this week for
a brochure with an attached
coupon that can be exchanged for a
free rain barrel – a retail value of
$75.
To collect their rain barrels,
homeowners should bring the
coupon and a copy of their water
bill on Saturday, April 18 or
Saturday, May 9 to the PUC
Yard, 435 Minnie St., Wingham,
from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. or
Wednesday, May 27 to the Wingham
Health and Wellness Fair at
the North Huron Wescast
Community Complex, from 11 a.m.
to 8 p.m.
“The feedback we have received
on the pilot project tells us that this
community is committed to the
study and keen to get started. That’s
why we decided to distribute some
of the rain barrels ahead of the
original May 27 date,” said Mary
Lou O’Reilly, IBC vice-president of
public affairs and marketing.
“This strong support also suggests
we are well on our way to achieving
our goal of 95 per cent participation
by Wingham homeowners, and
that’s very exciting.”
