By Kathleen Stennett Despite Friday’s challenging weather conditions, the Wawanosh 4-H Bush Whackers went for a hike. The meeting started at the Jefferson house with a humorous game of I’m Going On A Picnic. Then members said the 4-H pledge. Roll call was, “What is the most important thing to take on a hike?” There were many different answers. Members handed in suggestions for cover designs and the club name. Next, members were split into two groups for the hike. They headed into the woods to experience nature using all of their senses. The groups saw a strange foam on the trees, heard crows and falling trees, and of course, everyone felt the rain. One enjoyable activity was feeding the catfish and goldfish. Eventually, everyone made their way back to the Jefferson house and went downstairs to play the Dating Game and discuss what was found on the hike. Brianna Yuill and Emma Enders are making the cover design. Everyone read about what to bring on a hike, and discussed sleeping bags. The meeting closed with the 4-H motto. The next 4-H meeting is on April 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Wawanosh Nature Centre. Bush Whackers take a hike Keep the line moving The line was out the door last week in Auburn for the Knox United Church’s roast beef supper at the hall on April Fool’s Day. Food moved quickly and seats filled up fast that night as dozens dined in Auburn.
