independent traffic engineer’s study
would provide an unbiased avenue
to determine if the crosswalk was
warrened.
However, the highways
department has researched the
determining criteria, Laurie said,
and confirmed that the crosswalk is
neither required nor recommended
in Belgrave.
“Given this fact, we feel it is
reasonable that the cost of the study
would be borne 50/50 by the
municipalities who are requesting
the crosswalk,” public works
director Dave Laurie wrote in his
report.
County council agreed at its
April 2 meeting, supporting the
committee’s recommendation to
deny the request for a
three-way split without
comment.
Call it force of habit.
The number for Heather Dietz
Photography as printed in last
week’s story featured in The Citizen
was incorrect. The number is not
the usual exchange for Blyth, but
rather 519-525-7870.
We apologize for any confusion
this may have caused.

Mother Nature played tricks on us
again Monday when we woke up to
snow and high winds. Many schools
were closed in the area and the roads
were heavy with snow as the plows
were caught off guard thinking that
spring had come.
The only good thing about this is
that it can’t last long at this time of
year.

the scripture from Matthew 21: 1-11
and a play, Why Cut Palm Branches.

Clark.
The Sunday school children
handed out the palm branches to the
congregation to wave during the next
hymn Ride on King Jesus.
The prayer of approach was
followed by the Sunday school
children putting on a play No
Flowers for Easter.
The food for the food bank that
they had collected at their mini golf
during March break was presented.
The hymn Hosanna, Loud
Hosannas was sung.
The children went downstairs for
their time of worship.

Joy When Trouble Is Coming.
Palm Sunday is a happy
time before Good Friday he
said. It is important to savour
the good things in life. Store them
up for the downtimes. People
need to be a community of love
for each other. Sometimes when
they are sad they build a wall up
and it is hard to break those
walls down.
The next hymn All Glory Laud
and Honour was sung followed by
the offering being received, the
prayers of people and the singing of
The Lord’s Prayer. The last
hymn was, Tell Me the Stories of
Jesus.

Easter Bingo was put on by the Blyth Legion and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary last week, as
dozens of players hoped to win turkeys, hams, or cash prizes. Helen Dobson, right, and Mabel
Willis, centre, were two of the players dabbing the night away on their cards. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
