Brussels Curling Club held its
annual meeting on Monday evening,
March 23.
The meeting was opened with the
secretary treasurer Susan Alexander
reading the minutes of the 2008
annual meeting. The treasurer’s
report was read.
Election of officers for 2009-10
was held. They are: past president,
Joe Ryan; president, Sandra Josling;
first vice-president, Murray Pepper;
second vice-president, Mary
Bernard; secretary-treasurer, Susan
Alexander; draw committee, Brenda
McIntosh, Steve Steiss and Brian
Warwick; ice committee, Merv
Bauer; Press reporter, Janis Bray.

Here’s to the winners
The Blyth PeeWee Reps capped off a great season with a
4-2 victory in recent hockey action. The team defeated
Shallow Lake and Wingham to take the round robin series.

The Blyth-Brussels PeeWee girlshave finished a great season. The team started wrapping thingsup first with a game againstMildmay and opened the scoring inthe second minute of the game with
a goal by Jordyn Sholdice with Lexi
Smith assisting. The lead was
extended to two on a goal by
Mackenzie Nesbitt with Delayna
Smith and Kaitlyn Michie collecting
the helpers.
Mildmay cut into the lead in the
opening seconds of the third period.
The two-goal lead was restored
with three minutes to go on another
goal by Sholdice with Lexi Smith
and Leanne Plunkett getting the
assists.
Mildmay scored a goal with 21
seconds to go, but it was too late and
the game ended with Blyth-Brussels
prevailing by a 3-2 score.
The next game was against the
Owen Sound Ice Hawks. The girls
opened the scoring with two goals inthe first period. Lexi Smith andAshley Higgins got the goals andassists went to Sholdice, Nesbitt andDelayna Smith.The Ice Hawks got on the board
early in the second but the girls
responded with a goal of their own
26 seconds later. Delayna Smith got
the goal assisted by Autumn
Wightman and Higgins.
The girls sealed the game in the
third with two more goals. Higgins
and Sholdice scored assisted by
Michie, Lexi Smith and Taylor
Higgins. The final score was 5-1.
That put the team in the
championship final against the
Meaford Mustangs. The girls really
played well in their final game of the
season and applied tremendous
pressure and had numerous chances
to score. The Mustang goalie played
a great game and was able to shutout
the team for only the third time this
season.The Meaford captain, AbbySewell, was able to get free in thesecond period and scored the onlygoal of the game for the 1-0 victory.The runner-up medallions went to
the Blyth-Brussels team.
The season was tremendous
success and was the first official
season of girls hockey for the
amalgamated Blyth-Brussels teams.
The PeeWee girls ended with an
overall record of 32 wins, nine losses
and two ties. They were tournament
champions in Milverton and
consolation winners at the Goderich
Lions Young Canada Week.
The team members are: goalie,
Lindsay Shiell; defence, Kaitlyn
Michie, Mackenzie McGavin,
Leanne Plunkett and Autumn
Wightman; forwards, Jordyn
Sholdice, Lexi Smith, Taylor
Higgins,Ashley Higgins, Mackenzie
Nesbitt and Delayna Smith.
Playing off
The Blyth-Brussels PeeWee girls finished off a great
season at a tournament in Lucknow. They entered on a
high note having defeated Normanby in a game on home

All dogs must be licensed in compliance with By-law No. 63-2004.
A copy of the complete By-law is available for review at the
Municipal Office. All dogs must be identified by means of a tag and
licence, issued for a (1) one year period by:

The fee schedule shall be as follows:
1/All Dogs (except those listed in #2)
- males, females, and spayed females $20.00 per dog
2/Pit bulls, Pit bull crosses, Staffordshire terriers $100.00 per dog
3/Kennel Licence Fee $75.00
(for a kennel of dogs that are registered or eligible for
registration under the Animal Pedigree Act)
4/Late Payment Charge $20.00 per dog
(Shall be assessed in addition to the licence fee,
if the licence and/or tag is not purchased by April 24th)
Excrement:
The By-law requires dog owners to forthwith remove excrement left by a
dog, from property other than the premises of the owner of the dog. Any
person contravening this provision is subject to a $50.00 fee.
