HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2009-03-26, Page 16Another Faith-In-Song show is coming to Blyth, this time, featuring The Mudde Family and Courteney Main. On April 3, the ABC Women’s Ministry will be bringing the show to Blyth Memorial Hall at 8 p.m. The Mudde Family has been performing gospel music together for over seven years. While The Mudde Family prides themselves on their concert performances, they also perform for nursing homes, shut-ins and community events, generally around southern Ontario. The family has recorded several albums together and more information can be found at www.themuddefamily.ca Courteney Main is currently in her first year of high school, attending Grade 9 at F.E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham. Main is still relatively new to performing, saying that the discovery of her talent really only came when she was in Grade 8, one year ago. The ABC Women’s Ministry is comprised of groups that are involved with the Auburn Huron Chapel Evangelical Missionary Church, Blyth Living Water Christian Fellowship and Heartland Community Church in Clinton. Tickets to the show are $12 each for adults or $6 for children ages 12 and under. They are available at Tasty Treats To Go in Blyth, The Dutch Store in Clinton, Radiant Life in Goderich and The Gift Chest in Wingham. Each hole had a theme and was creatively-designed until the golfers finished up and were able to complete everyone’s favourite hole, the last hole, where they got a cookie at the end. (Shawn Loughlin photo) Another Faith-in-Song in Blyth Michael Pinball Clemons, chief executive officer of the Toronto Argonauts, and national icon of sporting excellence, community leadership, personal character and integrity is bringing his inspirational message to Huron County for a special one-night speaking engagement. The Huron Women’s Shelter, Second Stage Housing and Counselling Services is pleased to host “An Evening With Pinball Clemons: Inspiring Excellence in our Community” on Friday,April 17 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 390 Parsons Court, Goderich. Proceeds from this special fundraising event will be directed to the Huron Women’s Shelter. Tickets are still available, although going fast, at a cost of $40/person, which includes a dinner and presentation. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the dinner starting at 7 p.m. A cash bar will also be available. For more information, or to reserve your tickets, please call 519- 524-5333. The March meeting of theMelville Guild and Women’sMissionary Society was held in thechurch parlour on Tuesday evening,March 16 with 10 members andseven guests present. The theme of the meeting was farming. Dona Knight read a poem, The Awakening and a story, Growing an Olive Tree. The hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful was sung, followed by everyone repeating the WMS Purpose. The scripture Psalm 104:10-18, 27, 28 was read in unison. Mary Douma led in prayer. Mrs. Douma read a scripture Luke 8:4-8, 11-15. The hymn Come Ye Thankful People Come was sung. Mrs. Douma read, A Farmer’s Creed and a story, Farming in Ukraine.Jeff Cardiff presented the topic,Changes I’ve Seen in FarmingDuring My Career and Mrs. Doumaread a story, Job Description for aFarmer’s Wife. The Mizpah Benediction was repeated by all to close this part of the meting. Alice Marks presided over the business. She read a poem, St. Patrick’s Day and the minutes of the February meeting were read and approved. The correspondence included an invitation to attend Melville’s twin society, South Kinloss’s meeting on April 1. There was also an invitation to attend Isabel Gibson’s 90th birthday party at Huronlea on April 11 from 2 - 4 p.m. Plans were made for the Guild to look after lunch for Holy Week atthe United Church for Monday,April 6.The fashion show to be held atMelville Church on May 20 wasdiscussed. The roll call was answered with everyone telling a pleasant memory they have of the farm. Jean Bewley and Eluned McNair will be in charge of the April meeting.
