The Belgrave Women’s Institute
met on March 17 at the Community
Centre.
The president, Nancy Jardin,
welcomed 48 members and guests
on St. Patrick’s Day and asked Rev.
John Roberts to say grace before the
potluck lunch. Following the meal
Nancy read an Irish joke. She gave a
prize to Linda Campbell and Les
Shaw for wearing the most green, to
Jack Marks for having the birthday
closest to March 17 and to Jean
Plaetzer for the closest wedding
anniversary.
The program convenor, Ruth
Olson, asked Alice Nicholson to
give two readings. John Roberts
sang, Old Man River and I’ll Walk
with God. Clifford Coultes recited
The Haggis of Private McPhee.
John McIntosh sang Danny Boy and
What a Wonderful World. Kay
Roberts was pianist.
The business meeting began with
the Mary Stewart Collect. The
minutes of the previous meeting and
treasurer’s report were given by
Dorothy Coultes.
The Branch is asked to provide
lunch for a meeting to be held at the
OMAFRA office on Monday, April
6 to plan the District annual.
The dates for the summer
caterings are July 14, Aug. 13 and
Aug. 20.
The next meeting April 21 is at
7:30 p.m. at the WI Hall. This is the
Branch annual, when the new slate
of officers is elected and the yearly
fees collected. The donations of the
gift bags and other articles for the
London Health Sciences Centre will
be accepted at that time.

Going green
It’s not enough to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with an enjoyable Irish-themed lunch out; these
girls really got into the spirit of things, going green from head to toe. From left: Fran Bremner,

The community extends sincere
sympathy to Ashley, Matt, Carson
and Sydney Bromley on the passing
away of Harold Boyd Taylor, a dear
grandfather and great-grandfather.

It’s the same concept that makes hybrid
cars so efficient: Relying on a combination
of two energy sources can save on overall
cost and usage. York’s groundbreaking
hybrid heating technology uses both
electricity and gas in an all-new, money-
saving way.
• Utilizes cost-efficient electricity with Affinity
Heat Pump technology to keep your home warm
and comfortable during mild winter months.
• Automatically switches to the Affinity Furnace
in extreme, cold weather for stepped-up heating.
• The result: high-efficiency, effective heating
while cutting winter energy bills by as much as
40 percent.

Affinity YP9 and YP8 with variable-speed ECM motors
use less energy than a 100-watt light bulb*
Standard blower motors, on average, consume nearly 500 watts.
