HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2009-03-26, Page 7Did you catch my error last week?If you attended the card cavalcadehosted by the Happy Gang Seniors, you would have wondered about myreporting that Wilmer Glousher hadwon the afghan door prize whicherroneously I stated was donated byMarie Glousher. Actually MarieKrauter generously donated that prize. How many of you were surprised to learn from an A Channel item lastweek that the citizens of NorthHuron supposedly were very poorrecyclers? A follow-up report givenby clerk, Kriss Snell, disputed thatclaim. Turns out only one recyclingcompany in that area was beingaccounted for initially. It has always seemed to me that rural folk are conscientious recyclers or stewards of our earth. In the second report about the survey,North Huron came out on top of thelist. And those statistics don’t likelytake into account the items donatedby rural residents to secondhandstores, book sales, pop can drives, yard sales and families in need.Perhaps we could all make onemore small change in our discard habits but on the whole rural people are doing very well. It was a fun and noisy crokinole party held by the Sunday school at Londesborough United Church on Thursday evening, March 19. Sixtables of players caromed theirbuttons across the tables or off theposts or into the 20 hole through 11games.The Kiara/Crystal Whyte teamwon 10 of those games. AlexWesterhout found the centre hole themost times to be acknowledged as that winner. The senior choir will practise at 7:30 p.m. on March 26 and at 10 a.m. on March 29 to prepare Easter music.
