It must be spring as it was a busy
week at the Brussels Legion Branch
to catch up with housekeeping
duties. The furnace and propane
stove both had their spring tune-ups
and the tables and chairs have been
tightened and bolted and all repaired
as well.
Thanks to the professionals and to
our handyman Barrie Currie.
The Cadets are meeting regularly
on Tuesday evenings and are
working hard on their drill team
routine. They have two fundraising
projects on the go, collecting pop
cans and returnable bottles, as well
as selling chocolate bars. Help
support the Cadets and keep
recycling.
Wednesday evening was the
Branch public speaking evening
with 13 students from Brussels and
Grey Central Public Schools. Branch
Youth Chairman John Lowe was the

his assistant Nanci Ducharme and

Saturday was a great time at the

crowd on hand and plenty of folks
enjoyed the wings prepared by
cooks Jo-Ann McDonald and Eric
Ross. The waitress for the eveningwas Deb Ross, and she did anexcellent job. Lisa Glanville, AnnePelletier and Nicole Noble andfriend looked after the draws for the
evening. It was great to see many of
the boys of the PeeWee hockey
teams and their parents out to enjoy
the evening as well.
Articles are beginning to trickle in
for the silent auction. Already we
can tell there will be some very
interesting items up for bid.
The Branch is holdings its honoursand awards program on March 29and we hope that many of ourComrades will be able to attend. Weare having Tracey McLennan as our
guest and she will be showing her
slides of her trip to Europe last year.
The trip was called Huron
Remembers and was a tour that
visited many of the cemeteries in
Holland, France and Belgium. It will
be a great afternoon and it’s hoped
many veterans will be able to attend.
