The Brussels PeeWee Local
League hosted Goderich on Friday
night.
It was Brussels that lit the lights
with just 30 seconds left in the first.
Scoring was Tanner Cardiff, assisted
by Tim Waechter.
In the second period, Cardiff
scored his second, unassisted.
Minutes later, Cody Harding scored,
assisted by Cardiff. Scott Dolmage
netted the fourth goal for Brussels.
A few minutes later, Goderich
scored, making it 4-1 to end the
second period.
At the beginning of the third,
Waechter scored. Dolmage netted
his second of the night, assisted
by Jason Baxter and Colton
Hastings.
With just 44 seconds left on the
clock, Anthony Vader scored,
unassisted to end the game 6-1 for
Brussels.
Sunday was a different game as
the squad lost to Goderich 4-2.
Goals were scored by Dolmage and
Ben Hruska. Thursday (tonight) they
face Elma Logan at 7 p.m. in
Monkton.
The two Blyth PeeWee broomballteams played in the FBAO juniorprovincial broomball championshipson Valentine’s Day weekend.The Rollers started the tournamentagainst an Eastern Division team,G&N Contracting. They came out
strong and took the lead in the first
half. A shot from Matt Terpstra was
partially blocked by the goalie but
Desiree Mason was at the corner of
the net to push in the goal for Blyth.
There were some tense moments
through the second half and the onegoal was enough for the Roller win.The Rollers’ second game wasagainst division rivals the MildmayHawks. Once again Mason scored toput the Rollers on the scoreboardfirst. The Hawks were able to come
back to tie the game and take it into
overtime. Travis Hoggart scored the
game winner with Brennan Kolkman
assisting.
As the Rollers kept winning the
teams kept getting tougher. This
time they played the Voyaguers,another Eastern Division team. Itwas an exciting game all the waythrough. Jordan Deboer had anothergood game in net for the Rollers andtook the game into overtime. LauraSouch came through with the
overtime goal to give the Rollers
another win.
This placed the Rollers in the
bronze medal game against the
Windsor Devils. The Devils proved
too much for the Rollers. Even
though goalie Deboer had anoutstanding game the Devils tookthe win.For all their hard work the Rollersfinished third in the tournament andbrought home the bronze medal.The Dynamite had a less
successful tournament that than the
Rollers. In their first game they were
beaten by the Eastern Warriors.
Their second game was against the
Mildmay Red Wings. The Red
Wings scored in the first half to take
the lead. The Dynamite stayed withthem the whole game but did notfind the back of the net.With two losses the Dynamitewent to the consolation roundagainst the Windsor Devils II.Preston Scott had another good
game in net for the Dynamite
keeping the game close. Windsor
scored last in the game and took the
win.
This put the Dynamite out of the
tournament.

Rollers bring home tournament bronze
Nicely done
The F.E. Madill boys curling team has advanced to the Western Ontario Secondary School
Athletic Association competition. The boys won the county competition in Vanastra on Feb. 11
and 12 to move on to Huron/Perth held in St. Marys Feb. 26. There they won all three of their

The Brussels Atom Local League
was tough to beat this weekend.
Their first game, was against
Harriston. Seth Nichol scored the
first goal to take the lead.
Harriston tied it up just two
minutes later.
Ben Newell broke the tie late in
the third period.
Harriston once again tied it up.
Then Newell, in overtime, scored
on a breakaway with just 1:50 left to
give his team a 3-2 victory.
Sunday saw Brussels playoff
against Elma Logan on home ice.
This time, both teams had trouble
staying out of the penalty box.
It was Kiaran Jared, with a
rebound shot from Newell, that
started the scoring.
Elma Logan tied it up, then took a
2-1 lead.
Derrick Waechter, assisted by
Newell, scored to tie it again.
In overtime it was the combined
effort of Newell and Dalen Martin
that helped Kailey Wheeler net the
winning goal.

The Wingham Curling Club’s mixed Bantam team won the A division at the mixed zone
playdowns in Seaforth, Feb. 28 and will now play in the regional playdowns in Walkerton,

PeeWee Locals host Goderich
Huron and Perth United Ways are
once again gearing up to present the
best and brightest high school
hockey stars from the two counties at
the fourth annual Huron/Perth All-
Star Hockey Game.
“Today’s youth are the community
volunteers and leaders of tomorrow.
We are always inspired by their early
involvement into community support
and are once again excited to host
this event. We invite everyone to
come out and cheer on our high
school hockey players in this fun and
meaningful fundraiser for the United
Way,” comments Michelle Gellatly,
executive director of the Huron
United Way.
The game, which will bring
together hockey all-stars from the
high schools in the two counties, will
be played at the Exeter arena this
year on March 10.
This event is expected to bring
more than 200 people to the Exeter
area.
The evening will start at 7 p.m.
with the Huron County all-star girls
facing off against the Perth County
all-star girls.
The boys’ teams will hit the ice at
9 p.m.
Admission cost will be $2 for
students and $3 for adults with the
proceeds going to United Way of
Huron and Perth.
United Way hosts all-star match
