PAGE 9. Lakers finish round robin It has been a crazy start for the Blyth Midget Local League playoff season. The first game against Teeswater was cancelled due to weather. Then both Blyth and Milverton teams braved the elements on Sunday, Feb. 22 and it was exciting from the drop of the first puck. Just 2:29 into the first period, Milverton managed to land a puck in Blyth’s net, but it only took nine seconds for Austin Sjaarda to take off down the ice and tie the score. The game remained tied until just into the second period when Brad Greidanus scored an unassisted goal. With only 25 seconds left in the second period Ryan Sjaarda, assisted by Mike McDowell sent another puck flying past the Milverton goaltender. In the third Milverton scored two goals to tie it. With four minutes left in the third period, Greidanus took a pass from Dana Teed and fired it past the Milverton goaltender. With 1:13 left in the third period, Milverton managed to sneak one past Blyth’s Tyson Sjaarda, tieing it once again. The teams were onto overtime, and Milverton scored to take the 5-4 victory.
