The first game of the series, Brussels was down 2-0 going into the third. They put on the heat and scored two quick goals off the sticks of Hayden TenPas, and Wyatt Ducharme. Then with a minute left, TenPas pushed another one in to make it 3-2. Zurich came to Brussels for game two. The hosts were not on their game and Zurich put away six while Brussels only got two. Scoring were Ducharme and Brock McLean. Goalie Matt McNichol played well and took a lot of shots. The third game Zurich took advantage with some powerplays and put in five goals. McLean was able to get one by the goalie with Tim Waechter assist- ing. The Blyth PeeWee Local League hosted the Lucknow team Feb. 23. This was a tight-checking affair and few scoring chances by both teams made for a great game. After several attempts stopped by the Lucknow goalie, Blyth finally put one in the net. Curtis Raynard carried the puck into the Lucknow end, forcing the goalie to make his move. A perfect pass to Trystan Weber, provided Ducharme to tip the shot in the open net. Blyth applied some more pressure and Kyle Pollard came from behind the Lucknow net and poked home an insurance goal in the dying minutes. Goalie Dustin Treble, stopped all Lucknow’s attempts and earned his second shutout of the playdowns. The PeeWees headed to Seaforth Thursday night, Feb. 26. The first period saw few good scoring chances until Daymien Brak was parked in front of the net, and fired home a pass. Blyth increased the lead to two when Brendan Hallahan scored after a faceoff in the Seaforth end, assisted by Dalton Richmond. Seaforth cut the lead to one. Blyth regained the two-goal lead shortly after, when Raynard scored with a high shot over the Seaforth goalie’s glove-hand, assisted by Josh VanSoest. Seaforth answered back with two of their own to tie the game. Then with 10 minutes left in the third, Weber won the faceoff in the Seaforth end and passed back to Dylan Bromley who fired the puck at the net, and a little tap in by Richmond completed the scoring for the game. Blyth won 4-3. The Bulldogs split their weekend games. The team first played Listowel on Saturday. They came to play but ended up with some penalty trouble during the game. Pollard opened the scoring, with help from Weber and Raynard. Listowel answered with one of its own. Richmond put one into their net with help from Weber. Listowel beat Blyth’s goalie for four before Pollard scored his second on the third period. Blyth attempted a comeback but fell short. The Bulldogs then headed to Lucknow for a Sunday morning game.
