with free admission for all visitors.
Bring friends and family to
explore local history. While at the

your hand at paper folding plus
pencil and paper games. Before
leaving enjoy a sweet treat and some
warm apple cider.
Be some of the first people to
explore the new temporary exhibit –
Trees to Treasures: Folk art from the
George June Collection. From pine,
poplar and walnut woods, George
June created an extensive array of
wooden folk art. From his early
carved canes to his intricate inlaid
tabletops and dioramas, his pieces
truly are treasures to enjoy. Carved
mostly in the 1930s and 1940s, they
vary from full size statues to tiny
intricate acorn chains and jewellery.
This temporary exhibit opens on
Feb. 14 and continues until Aug. 4.

Returning from a great trip to the
east coast are Paul Ryan, Jim Bauer
and a group of a dozen other
snowmobile enthusiasts. They
travelled to New Brunswick to travel
over 1,250 kilometres of excellent
trails.
New Brunswick boasts a huge trail
system and the group enjoyed every
minute of the trip. They were away a
week and had a home base which
they travelled from and returned to
every night.
The trip was organized by Barrett
Marketing.
Home for the weekend was
Heather Kelso to visit with mom and
dad, Marie and Neil McGavin. She
also attended a party for an old

A couple of area men, Matt
Shortreed and John Huether joined
Bill Anderson and Bill Shaddick on
a trip to Welland last week. They
went to see the John Deere plant
there, before it closes operations in
April. This particular plant made the
John Deere gators, loaders and
rotaries and production is being
moved to Mexico. The gator division
has already been shut down.
The men spent three hours touring
the plant and watching the welders,
assemblers and painters at work. It
was an interesting tour but a long
day.
