Although February is our shortest month, being right in the middle of winter, for some it is very, very long calendar gaze. Lots of snow, plenty of dark and limited mobility can cause some moments of depression. For others, February is a time to celebrate the snow and all the activities that offers. Ski trips, hockey tournaments, skating carnivals, igloos and snow sliding. February is heart month, often thoughts of cardiovascular health rise but if taken literally, we need to share our love this month. You can begin by popping in to see folks, giving them a quick phone call or inviting them out for a bit. Two hearts will feel better. The folks at Town and Country services want to see you. You are invited to Dining Out held at Brussels United Church on Thursdays. Good company, good food, new friends and some entertainment thrown in are yours by just attending. The next one is on Feb. 12 and if you call Lily at 519-887-8019 she’ll see that you’re well looked after. Make it part of your week and join the fun that you’re sure to have with this great group. I’ve hit a new stage of life. Time to acknowledge the passage of time and celebrate the wonders of life. No more planning life around nursing shifts – a little freedom of choice. Whoopie and hurrah! Happy February to us. Betty G.W. Thanks The Brussels Skating Club got a bit of a financial helping hand with donations from the Brussels Optimists and Legion. Allyson Cardiff received the money on behalf of the club from Optimist Jeff Newell, left, and Legion Comrade Andy Overholt.
