Another new month to spend. The
very shortest month of the year is
right here for our enjoyment.
Although February is our shortest
month, being right in the middle of
winter, for some it is very, very long
calendar gaze. Lots of snow, plenty
of dark and limited mobility can
cause some moments of depression.
For others, February is a time to
celebrate the snow and all the
activities that offers. Ski trips,
hockey tournaments, skating
carnivals, igloos and snow sliding.
February is heart month, often
thoughts of cardiovascular health
rise but if taken literally, we need to
share our love this month. You can
begin by popping in to see folks,
giving them a quick phone call or
inviting them out for a bit. Two
hearts will feel better.
The folks at Town and Country
services want to see you. You are
invited to Dining Out held at
Brussels United Church on
Thursdays. Good company, good
food, new friends and some
entertainment thrown in are yours
by just attending.
The next one is on Feb. 12 and if
you call Lily at 519-887-8019 she’ll
see that you’re well looked after.
Make it part of your week and join
the fun that you’re sure to have with
this great group.
I’ve hit a new stage of life. Time
to acknowledge the passage of time
and celebrate the wonders of life.
No more planning life around
nursing shifts – a little freedom of
choice.
Whoopie and hurrah!
Happy February to us.
Betty G.W.
Thanks

A NOTE FROM BETTY
By Jo-Ann McDonald
The general meeting for the
Brussels Legion was held on
Tuesday evening, Jan. 27 with a
dozen Comrades present. The
committee chairmen gave all
positive reports on their respective
committees and the Branch looks
forward to a smooth spring.
The sports chair reported that
there are teams advancing to play
District darts this month and there
will be two teams advancing to
District euchre in March.
PRO chairman Jo-Ann reported
that the newsletter will be out this
week. Comrades not receiving
theirs, should contact the Branch.
Darts on Thursday evening had 13
players. The first-place team was
Norm Dobson and Sandra Josling.
The second-place team was Glen
Zehr and Sharon Robbins. The high
shots were by Norm with a 132 and
Sharon with a 102.
The Friday night supper of roast
pork was enjoyed by a great crowd.
This week is roast beef.
The accessibility committee is
ready to present its
recommendations to the general
membership of the Branch.
Comrade John Rutledge will be
present to show designs and options
for everyone to see and discuss.
Comrades are urged to attend the
general meeting Feb. 24.
