HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2009-01-29, Page 17HENRY HUMMELMr. Henry Hummel of RR1, Blythpassed away suddenly at hisresidence on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009. He was in his 68th year. Henry was the beloved husband of Helen (Van Amersfoort-Boven) Hummel. He was the loving father and father-in-law of Julie Geddes of Kitchener, Kelly and Dan Kiss of Brucefield, Rick and Stacey Hummel of Londesborough, Mike and Shirleyann Boven of Blyth, Laurie and Richard Wilts of Londesborough, Casey and Melissa Boven of Blyth and Kelly and Brette Boven of Londesborough. He was the dear son and son-in-law of Rita and Ralph Pol of Goderich and Femmy Van Amersfoort of Blyth. Henry was also loved by 16 grandchildren. He was the dear brother and brother-in-law of Ann Troyer of Dorchester, Albert and Frances Hummel of Exeter, Herman and Corrine Hummel of Owen Sound, John and Annette Hummel ofGoderich, Margaret and Jeff Healeyof Tavistock, Andrew and JoyceHummel of Kippen, Brenda and Bill Murphy of Oakville, Janice and Rick Crane of Stratford, Rose Hummel of Clinton, Herb and Joanne Van Amersfoort of Blyth, Hillie Van Amersfoort of Blyth and Stephanie and Frank Zoer of Saskatchewan. Henry is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Andrew Hummel (1979), father-in- law Cornelius Van Amersfoort (1992), sister Grace Hummel (1997) and brother Angus Hummel (2006). Friends were received at the Blyth Visitation Centre of the Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., 407 Queen St. on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service was held at the Blyth Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Kuperus officiating. Interment will be in Blyth Union Cemetery. Flowerbearers were Devon Kiss,Chelsea Kiss, Connor Wilts andChandler Wilts.Pallbearers were Rick Hummel, Mike Boven, Casey Boven, Kelly Boven, Dan Kiss and Richard Wilts. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. FREDA MARGARET GOVIER Margaret Govier passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario. Margaret was born in Wingham on May 12, 1925 to the late Alfred and Annie Nesbit and grew up on the family farm near Auburn. She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Govier on March 2, 1946 and they spent 61 years together before Bill died on Aug. 4, 2007. The couple farmed, trucked, and logged in Huron and Perth Counties before moving “up north” to Burriss Twp. in 1962. After four years in Burriss, they moved to the outskirtsof Emo, Ontario and Marg took a jobin the kitchen of the Emo Red CrossHospital where she stayed for 28 years. Bill and Marg spent a lot of time travelling western Canada visiting Charolais cattle breeders and were always proud to tell people they were from the Rainy River District. Displaying Govier’s Petting Zoo at local functions, and practising the art of traditional rug hooking were two of Marg’s retirement activities. She was a member of the local Rug Hooking Guild and was interested in preserving the heritage of the craft. She also was a member of the Rainy River Valley Fair Board, the Women’s Institute and St. George’s Anglican Church Women. In the last few years she derived much pleasure from her visits with the nurses in the Hemodialysis Unit at LaVerendrye Hospital and the family is grateful for all the care and comfort they brought to her life.Margaret was predeceased bysister Mary Gray, and brothersLawrence and Frank Nesbit. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda (Stan) of Sleeman, Ontario, and sons Tom (Gail) of Emo and Herb (Donna) of Sleeman. Granny will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Jennifer (Dave), Corrie (Emma), Sarah, Lisa (Ryan), Russell, Jim and great-grandchildren Evan, Keira, Dillon and Olivia. She is survived as well by sister- in-law Mary Nesbit. Funeral services took place at Northridge Funeral Home, Emo, Ontario on Jan. 17 with Rev. Eileen Bragg officiating. Interment will take place in Emo Cemetery at a later date. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Hemodialysis Unit at Laverendrye Hospital or St. George’s Anglican Church in Emo.
