2009. Born in Morris Twp. on June
25, 1917, Isabel was in her 92nd year.
Isabel was the loving wife of the
late John Henry Alcock. She was the
dear mother of Bill and Helene
Alcock of Goderich, Betty Daer of
Clinton, Ross and Cora Alcock of
RR3, Brussels and Murray and Barb
Alcock of Goderich. She was the
dear sister of Jean Storey of Stratford,
June Schroeder of Crediton and Joan
Baxter of Florida. Isabel was also
loved by 16 grandchildren, 30 great-
grandchildren, seven great-great-
grandchildren and her daughter-in-
law Carol.
Her son, Ken, son-in-law Joe Daer
and parents Richard Alcock and Jean
Kirkconnell predeceased her.
Friends were received by the
family from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday
from the Schimanski Family Funeral
Home. The funeral service was
conducted from St. John’s Anglican
Church on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11
a.m. with Rev. Perry Chuipka
officiating.
A remembrance of Isabel was
given by Connie Alcock.
Carrying floral tributes were
Debbie Jones and Kathy Adams.
Pallbearers were Jeff Alcock, Brian
Alcock, Greg Alcock, Rick Alcock,
Perry Daer, Dean Daer and Jack
Branton.
Spring interment will be in
Brussels Cemetery.

ISABEL JENNETTE ELSTON
Isabel Elston of Morris Twp.
passed away at Braemar Retirement
Centre on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009.
She was 81.
The former Isabel Bowman was the
beloved wife of the late William
Elston, who predeceased her in 1997.
She was the dear mother of Wayne
and Lynda Elston of Wingham,
Murray and Trudy Elston of
Manotick, Keith Elston of RR4,
Wingham and his friend Heather
Young, Mary Ellen and Wayne Ross
of Kincardine and Susan and Jamie
Robinson of Belgrave.
Isabel was the sister of Mary and
Maitland Edgar of Petrolia, Louise
and Bill Marshall of Edmonton, Jim
and Shirley Bowman of RR5,
Brussels, and Doris and Ross
Strickland of London. She was the
sister-in-law of Bernard Thomas of
Wingham, Edwin Elston of Arva and
Marie and Ed Stewart of Bluevale.
Isabel was also survived by 13
grandchildren and twin great-
granddaughters.
Her parents Jack and Marj (Yuill)
Bowman and a daughter-in-law
Barbara Elston predeceased her.
Visitation was at the McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
The funeral service was held at
Wingham United Church on Friday at1:30 p.m. Rev. Wayne B. Beamerofficiated.Interment will be in Wingham
Cemetery, Turnberry Twp.

BABY SAVANA LAIDLAW
It is with great sadness that Dan
and Terri of RR1, Atwood, announce
the stillbirth of their daughter Savana
on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at Stratford
General Hospital.
She will be missed by her
grandparents Karen Freeman and
Sharyn Rainville of Brussels, John
Tinnion and Lisa Knight of North
Bay, Jerry and Barb Laidlaw of RR1,
Atwood, great-grandmothers Joan
Tinnion of New Brunswick and
Vivien Laidlaw of Listowel. She was
the special niece of Jeremy and
Joshua Tinnion of North Bay and
Michael and Nicole Laidlaw of RR1,
Atwood.
A private family service was held
at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic
Church, Brussels on Wednesday, Jan.
21 at 11 a.m. with Father John
Johnston officiating.
Interment will be in Elma Centre
Cemetery, Atwood.

19, 2009. She was in her 59th year.
She was the beloved daughter of
the late Sydney and Elva McClinchey
and loving sister of Harold and Doris
McClinchey of Goderich, Garth and
Ruth McClinchey of Goderich, Lloyd
and Eileen McClinchey of RR1,
Auburn, Rena and John Forster of
Goderich and Gladys and Paul
Hutchins of Goderich. She is also
survived by several nieces and
nephews.
There was no visitation.
A private celebration of Ruth’s life
was held at Huronview Home,
Tuckersmith Twp., on Wednesday,
Jan. 21. Huronview chaplain Mrs.
Fran Donohue officiated.

AMOS ELDRED SMITH
Amos Smith of Brussels, formerly
of Wingham passed away at
Huronlea, Brussels on Tuesday, Jan.
13, 2009. He was 89.
Amos was the beloved husband of
the late Evelyn (Brown) Smith who
predeceased him in 1992. He was the
stepfather of John and Joanne
Mitchell of Fergus and Bob Mitchell
of Goderich. He was the brother ofGreta and Lavern Hoegy of RR1,Dublin and grandfather of Kurtis andAmy Mitchell of Fergus. Amos was
also survived by several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters
Lillian Green and Lyla Smith, his
brother Ormal Smith and his step-son
George Mitchell.
Visitation was at the McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham, on Friday,
Jan. 16 from 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral
service was held at the funeral chapel
on Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. Wayne
Beamer officiated.
Interment will be in Brussels
Cemetery.
