TRY CLASSIFIED Drinking and driving didn’t just cost a Niagara Falls man his licence after appearing in Wingham’s provincial court, Thursday, Jan. 15. It cost him his job. According to duty counsel Grant MacKinnon, Thomas Keating, 31, had been employed as a truck driver prior to entering a guilty plea to a charge of driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. “This will obviously cost him his job,” MacKinnon told Judge R.G.E. Hunter. Attorney for the Crown Teresa Donnelly said Keating had been pulled over by police in North Huron at 11:30 p.m. Believing the accused was intoxicated police arrested him and took him to the detachment for tests. Breathalizer readings, said Donnelly, were 112 and 109 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. MacKinnon asked Hunter to consider a minimum mandatory sentence because of the low readings. Keating, who has no similar record was fined $1,000 and has lost his licence for a year. He has four months to pay the fine. Bridging the gap Huron East Mayor Joe Seili (right) and council welcomed Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb to Seaforth last week before a committee meeting to thank him for the $94,000 that came to the municipality of Huron East as a result of the federal Gas Tax Fund. Huron East council dedicated these funds to two rehabilitated bridges throughout the municipality. (Photo submitted) Trucker pleads guilty to drunk driving
