We will remember the last Sunday of 2008. With the power being out for some of our readers for most of the day, folks went into survival mode. We tried to stay warm and fed, and many had water to pump out of their basements. A former Auburn resident, Donald Hugh Ross, passed away on Monday, Dec. 15 in Oakville after a brief illness. He was married to Patricia (Trant) for over 53 years. His teaching career took him to Brucefield, Cambridge, and in 1951 to Oakville. Besides being a caring father of three and enjoying his four grandchildren, he was a very active community man and in 1990 was the recipient of the Howard Caine award for community service. Thanks to Bernice Anderson and Nancy Park who had kept in contact with Don, for sharing this information.
