Brucelield last Sunday afternoon when the wing plow struck a frozen knoll and flipped the
machine sideways into the ditch. The force of the accident broke the seat belt of the driver
Who sustained minor injuries. (News-Record photo)

The December Meeting of
Clinton Women's institute was
held Thursday Dec. 14th, star-
ting with a turkey and pot luck
luncheon.
Mrs, Popp, president, opened
the meeting and introduced
Rev. L. S. Lewis who brought
an inspiring Christmas message
to the Institute members.
"The Christmas Story" was
the theme, and he read scrip-
ture from Good news for
modern man, This is a tremen-
dous story of love and brings to
us the Spirit of peace, love and
good will, We only too often
find that after Christmas is
over it is thrown out like our
dried Christmas tree.
It is a tremendous and
revealing, story. Even when
Jesus was born people were
rushing to pay their taxes and
had no time for the Babe in
Bethlehem. Today we too rush
around and forget the true
meaning of Christmas.
God wanted to reveal himself
to mankind. We find his real
importance in the man of
Calvary. The event links birth,
life, suffering, the Cross and
Resurrection all in one. We
could have no Christmas story
otherwise. Each year it is born
anew in our hearts, his life a
ransom for our sins.
In the absence of the
secretary-treasurer, Mrs.
Groves read the minutes and
gave the treasurer's report.
Thirty-seven members an-
swered the roll call.
A card party is being plan-
ned for Tuesday, Jan. 16th in
the Town Hall at 2 p.m. There
will be a draw for baskets of
groceries.
Mrs. C. Elliott gave an in-
teresting report on the area
convention, Canadian In-
stitutes should think Canadian,
buy Canadian, and live a
Canadian life, and make more
use of our Institute Handbooks.
Mrs. Carmichael, district
P.R.O. and head of family and
community affairs, told
delegates we should use more
of our funds for Women's In-
stitute work and not use funds
for other appeals, though wor-
thy, that we can donate to
privately.
There were delegates from
146 Institutes, Membership to
A.C.W.W. was hoped to reach
500. Mrs. Elliott paid the fee
for membership of Clinton In-
stitute.
.Nine thousand, seven hun-
dred and seyenty five dollars is
the aim this year for Canada
with pennies for friendship.The
highlight of the meeting was
