Hensa11 UCTV holds Christmas meeting

The Christmas General
meeting of the Hensall U.Q.W.
was held in the Fellowship
Hall of the Church Monday
evening, with Grace Drum-
mond and flelen MacLean
welcoming at the door, New
president, Kay Mock presided
and opened with an article en-
titled "A Woman conversation
with God", Two very lovely
duets were rendered by Pearl
Passmore and Mary Goodwin
with Belva Fuss accompanying
on the piano,
The devotional, given by Will
Beck, was centered around
keeping Christmas all year
round, Elva Forrest read the
Christmas story from St. Luke
2, and a Christmas Litany and
affirmation were read by all.
Helve Fuss favoured everyone
with lovely piano selections of
favorite Christmas music,
which Was very much enjoyed,
A touching Christmas story
"Tell me about Christmas"
was read by Elva Forrest.
Anita Cook gave a short
report on the feelings of the
units of having nursery in the
Church, and it was decided
that a list of names would be
drawn up .concerning this mat-
ter for the coming year.
Mona Alderdice conducted
the business session and
opened with a Christmas
prayer. Forty three members
and three guests answered the
roll call, and the unit leaders
gave a short report on the years
work. It was announced by
Unit IV that their meeting
scheduled for December 7 has
been cancelled and is
rescheduled for December 14
instead. Year-end reports were
given from various committees;
Mrs. Erratt reported for Supply
and Welfare, Mrs. Ella
Drysdale for Flower Fund, Mrs.
Mabel Shirray for Friendship
and Visitation, Doreen Spencer
for Treasurer's report and
Financial report by Mildred
McNaughton. The budget for
the U,C.W. which Mildred
presented was accepted. The
nominating committee report
was given by Elva Forrest, New
president Kay Mock said a few
words of encouragement to
everyone for the coming year,
Mona Alderdice read a recipe
fel. Christmas and closed the
meeting with the familiar carol
Silent Night and a Christmas
prayer, Members of unit II ser,
ved a delicious Christmas
lunch.
Carmel Presbyterian Church
The W.M,S. Christmas
meeting of the Carmel
Presbyterian Church was held
at the Church Monday evening,
with Mrs, Bev. Beaton and
Mrs. Harry Snell in charge of
the program and devotions.
The scripture passage was read
from Luke and clippings were
read entitled "On keeping
Christmas" and "This is the
time", Mrs. Grace Harpole
favoured everyone with
beautiful piano selections. Mrs.
Grace Peck demonstrated how
to make Christmas decorations,
which was very interesting.
President, Mrs. Rachel Sch-
walm, presided for the business
session. Mrs. Myrtle Dick was
presented with a Life Member-
ship Certificate and Mrs. Bruce
Walker will be presented with
one in her home by Mrs. Sch-
walm. Mrs. R.A. Orr read from
(Glad Tidings) and Mrs. Ruby
Hoggarth read from These
Days. Next meeting will be held
January 8 at 2 p.m,
It was decided that the
meetings for the W,M.S. from
now on are to be scheduled for
the first Monday in the month
except when there is a holiday.
Mrs. Ester Wright conducted
the Installation of officers for
1973. They are as follows;
president, Mrs. Gordon Sch-
walm; vice-president, Mrs,
John Soldan; secretary, Mrs.
R.A, Orr; treasurer, Mrs, Edgar
Munn; Glad Tidings secretary,

and all enjoyed a delicious pot
luck Christmas lunch.
4-H Report
The seventh and eighth
meetings of the Hensall 4-H
"Roaring Twenties" were held
recently at the home of Mrs,
Bill Fuss. At meeting seven,
plans for buffet luncheon were
made and the luncheon was en-
joyed at the eighth meeting.
Plans were discussed for the
skit to be presented on
Achievement Day.
Sunday Worship
Sunday morning in Hensall
United Church was the
celebration of the Lord's Sup'.
per. Five new members, Mr..
and Mrs. David Brock, Mrs.:,
Doug Shirray and Mr. and Mrs.
Howie Wright were welcomed
into the fellowship of the
congregation. Rev. Don Beck
preached on the sermon topic
"Prepare the way of the Lord".
The Travers family entertained
with a lovely duet "Mansion on
the Hilltop", by Gayle and her
Don, with brother Tom accom-
panying on the piano.
Shower held
Friends, neighbours and
relatives gathered in the Hen-
sall Legion Hall last 'Wed-
No Inquest
into deaths •
No inquest will be held into
what police are terming a
"murder-suicide" that occurred
near Zurich, November 22.
Dr. Charles Wallace, of
Zurich, said, "Nothing is to be
served (by an inqUest) because
we know what happened. There
is no point in going further"
into the deaths of Edward Nor-
man MacDonald, 34 and his
wife Edna, 32.
Police say Mr. MacDonald
shot his wife twice in the head
and chest as their 13-year-old
daughter watched. The girl was
then ordered upstairs by her
father.
After hearing a shot, the girl
ran downstairs and found her
father dead on the floor.
Mrs. MacDonald was taken
to South Huron Hospital in
Exeter and then transferred to
St. Joseph's Hospital, London
where she died about three
hours after the shooting,
Police investigating the case
say they still have established
no motive for the killings.

decorated chair and was
waisted by Joanne Bell and

gifts, Presenting gifts were San-
dra Nixon and Brenda Camp-
bell, Beverly gratiously
thanked everyone for the
shower and the gifts, The
shower was arranged by the
Bell-Aire Club, and members of
this snowmobile club served a
delicious lunch,
Personals
Members of the Hensall
Kinette Club visited residents
of the Queensway Nursing
Horne this past Sunday mor-
ning and handed out treats and
favours to everyone.
The Young People from the
'Christian Reformed Church of
Exeter visited the home Sun-
day evening and entertained
the residents with a sing-song.
