Hospital, Toronto on Saturday, Oc-
tober 28, 1972, William James
Colton Appleby, born in Clinton,
Ontario October 27, 1897. Member
of Oakwood United Church: Served
with 47th Canadian Infantry. World
War 1. Retired from Adelaide Street
Post Office, member of Canadian
Corps Association United Services
Branch No. 2. Dearly beloved
husband of Clara O'Reilly, step-
father of' Philip, John, Edward,
Charles and William O'Reilly. and
Mrs. Mac Neil (Uneata), also sur-
vived by 1:3 grandchildren and 1
great-grandson. The funeral service
was held at Brown Bros. Chapel on
Wednesday. November 1 with inter-
ment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
PROCTOR: Percy F. Proctor, sud-
denly on November 7, 1972 at Port
Charlotte, Florida. Survived by his
wife, Louise; daughter, Mrs.
Caroline Dwyer; son James R. Proc-
tor; seven grandchildren. There are
also three sisters, Mrs. Sybil Palmer,
Mrs. Jean Matheson, Mrs. Margaret
Wettlaufer and two brothers,
Charles and William. The late Mr.
Proctor was born August :30, 190:3 in
London. The funeral service was
held on Saturday, November 11 at
St. Edith Catholic Church, Livonia,
Michigan with interment in Holy
Sepulchre Cemetery.

Theodore Fremlin, of 182 Ontario
Street, Clinton in his 87th year.
Beloved husband of Nellie (Her-
man) Fremlin and dear father of
Ellen (Mrs. Fred Brown) of Cen-
tralia and Harold, of Clinton, dear
brother of Mrs. Tom (Millie) Watt,
Stratford, and A.E. (Bert) of Clin-
ton. Also surviving are three grand-
children and one great-
granddaughter, predeceased by one
grandson. The funeral service was
held from Ball Funeral Home on
Saturday, November 11 with inter-
ment in Clinton Cemetery.

cil; a re-zoning by-law will be brought

framed picture of the Fathers of Con-
federation from Mrs. Ed (Florrie) Oddleif-
son; and a framed picture of the 161st Bat-
talion of the First World War from Walter
Westlake; policing 'of the Village was ex-
cellent due to good relations with the On-
tario Provincial Police; we are in process
(hopefully) of.getting a Seni6r Citizens home
in Hayfield, and a survey is expected regar-
ding this shortly; vandalism, breaking of
street lights and smashing of windows in the
Municipal Building, and the theft of life-
preservers on the piers is inexcusable stated
the Reeve,
Councillor Frank McFadden said the
Village had no debts and that tax arrears at
the end of 1971 were a minimal $300, To
date, 87 per cent of the 1972 taxes had been
executed and the internal tax rate had not
changed in the past four years and also
almost one-quarter of a million dollars in
building nerrnits had been issued.
McFadden said that the plan was to dc
the same things as they'd been doing, and to
take the best deal they could get.
Councillor Donald Warner reported on
the purchase of the road-grader (about three
times the size of the old one); that Tuyll St.
had been paved last year; and hopefully,
with the aid of Government subsidies, the
roads now being prepared would be paved

together for 10 minutes about
the child's problems and how to
improve them. The parents
could see any teacher who
taught their child. They also
had a chance to meet the new
principal, Mr. MacLennan. Af-
ter they finished their interviews
they went home.

DEVELOPMENT DAY
On Wednesday November 8,
(Professional Development Day)
the teachers of Hullett and
Brucefield schools went to visit
different schools in London.
They all met with Mr. Johnston
for lunch, then had a guest
speaker talk with them about
problems pupils might have.
Following this, there was a
question period and discussion
about What the speaker had
said. It was an enjoyable day for
the students also as they did not
have any school!

McClymont, Michael and Shan-
non of Guelph visited with
relatives at Clinton and Varna
during the weekend.
A Remembrance Service was
held in the United Church last
Sunday, with Rev. Murdock
Morrison in charge. After the
service, wreaths were laid at the
Soldiers' Monument in the
village.
The session of the United
Church will hold a canvass in
the interest of the Canadian
'Bible Society during the balance
of this month. A service by a
representative of the Society will
be held on Sunday, November
26 in the United Church.

REMEMBRANCE DAY
SERVICE
The annual Remembrance
Day Service at Hullett Central
was held Nov. 10 in the gym-
nasium. The program was
opened with 0 Canada, Tom
Kember, gave a bible reading.
Following this, Christine Carter,
Cathy Peel and Eldon Chamney
gave a review on the grade 8
trip to Col, John McCrae's
homestead. We also sang a
hymn and saw a film.
Guest speaker Rev,
McDonald gave a Remem-
brance Day prayer. Glenna Ellis
gave a definition of the 2
minutes silence and David Lear
and Bev Shepherd laid the
wreath on the cross. The service
was ended with God Save the
Queen,

Councillor Reg. York reported on the
installation of street lights and said when
Ontario liydro recovers from its recent
strike, new lighting will be installed around
Clan Gregor Square, and some of the hydro
poles which are in the way for pavifIg
Municipal Road will be re-situated. Many
of the small trees in the tree planting
program have been destroyed by
snowmobiles, etc., and he suggested that
larger trees be planted in the futtire,
Councillor fiedley (Ted) Gozzard said
when the Beach Management Agreement
has been realized, hopefully finger-docks,
showers, toilets, holding tanks and more
safety devices would be constructed to draw
More business into the Village. He suggested
that the town's teenagers form a life guard
association (rescue unit) to tie in with
Hayfield Fire Department.
All the present Council also thanked the
people who had signed their nomination
papers.
Mr. Graham called on the new nominee
(Mrs.) Milvena Erickson, who is contesting a
seat on council, to say a few words. She also
thanked those people who had signed her
nomination paper and said she would make
no promises, except if elected, she would do
her utmost for the betterment of the Village
where she was born.
Members presently on council seeking re-
election are Hedley (Ted) Gozzard, Frank
E. McFadden, Donald Warner and
Reginald York, and new nominee Milvena
Erickson.
Reeve Ed Oddleifson won by acclamation.
