BERT -sHogaRooK BAPTISM AT UNITED CHURCH A large number of members and visitors attended the United Church on Sunday morning. Greeters were John Jewitt and Don Buchanan. Four children were received by Baptism. They are; Kathy Darlene Kennedy, daughter of Jean and Bradley Kennedy; Ivy Theresa Knox, daughter of Barbara and Melvin Knox; Samantha Pearl Nesbitt, daughter of Mary and Floyd Nesbitt; and Murray Glen Whyte, son of Joan and Nick Whyte. Rev, McDonald's message was 'Our Fruitful Frustrations'. HURON-PERTH PRESBYTERY The Huron-Perth Presbytery United Church Men held their banquet and annual meeting on Wednesday night in Londesboro Church Hall, About 30 people sat down to a turkey dinner catered to by the United Church Women. Mr. Harold Code, Mitchell, chairman of the Huron-Perth Men, was Master of Ceremonies. Mr. Ivan Dow thanked the ladies. For the program, Rev, John Roberts of Belgrave sang a number of solos with Mrs. Harry Lear at the piano, Cliff , Coultes of Belgrave game some of, his monologues which were most entertaining. Rev. McDonald was the guest speaker for the evening and spoke on the subject of "Christian Perspectives". The election of officers took place with the following being elected: past president, Harold Code, Mitchell; president, Ivan Dow, Belgrave; and secretary- treasurer, Cliff Coultes, Belgrave. Rev. Fred Fiast, chairman of Huron-Perth Presbytery and the president- elect of Conference, spoke briefly to the group and in- stalled the officers and at the close of the meeting pronounced the benediction. W.I. MEET The Women's Institute meeting was held on Wed- nesday, November 8th at 8 pan. in the Londesbore Hall. President, Mrs. Eric Anderson, opened with a poem Don't Quit' followed by Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and 0 Canada with Mrs. Jack Arm- strong at the piano, Roll call was answered and Mrs. Ander- son read a memorial poem in memory of Gladys (Mrs. Elgin) Joshing, a past president. A minute silence was also obser- ved. Secretary, Mrs. Taylor, read minutes of the September and October meetings. Correspon- dence included thank-you's from the Josling family, Mr. and Mrs. Art Clark, Mrs. Ted Fothergill, Mrs, Don Buchanan and Mrs. Art Colson. F.W.I. of Canada Convention is to be held at Banff in May, 1973. The date for the. Course "Ontario Fruits" is to be November 29th at 8 p.m. The W.I, is to cater to the Hog Producers on November 22. There was some discussion on fire insurance. The' president thanked all who had helped with the 75th anniversary Oc- tober meeting. It was decided to plait a dessert euchre in the near future. Mrs. Don Buchanan reported on Huron County Rally held. in Auburn . and Mrs. Margaret Taylor reported on W.I. Annual Rally held in Lambeth. Mrs. Bradnock of Auburn is the new president. The collection for War Memorial Hospital was $119. Mrs. Anderson introduced Mrs. Ken Beatty who showed pictures of a tour they were on in England, Scotland and Ireland which were very in- teresting. Mrs. Toni ' Duizer thanked her and presented her with a gift. The meeting closed with the Queen and W.L Grace. A lovely lunch was served by Mrs. Elma Jewitt, Mrs. Alma Tyndall and Mrs. Art Colson. PERSONALS Mr. Bill Cowan and Greg of Hanover spent Wednesday with former's mother; Mrs. J. Cowan. Mrs. Beth Knox entertained at dinner on Sunday in honour of the baptism of her grand- daughter Ivy Theresa Knox. Present were parents Mr. and Mrs. Mel Knox, her grand- parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Irwin of Clinton and. Rev. McDonald. Mrs. William Berry, M rs, Beth Knox, Mr. and Mrs. Gor- don McGregor, Mr, and Mrs. Paul Southgate, Mr. and Mrs, Bob Thompson and Rev. McDonald attended the wed- ding of Miss Sharon Ducharme to Mr, Gordon Berry in St. Am- brose Boman Catholic Church, Brussels on Friday evening and the reception in Cranbrook Community Centre. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Lee and Barbara visited with Dr. and Mrs. Garry Gall, Stouffville on the weekend of November 4th. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick over the weekend were Jeff and Lloy of Moorefield and Mrs, Shaddick's sister, Miss' Doris Walkom of Kitchener, Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Duizer, Laurel, Lesa and Stephen were Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hunking and Mr. and Mrs. Art flunking and baby Todd of Exeter.. Mrs. Ross Millson and family of Woodstock spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook while Ross and his brother, Bill, were on a hun- ting trip to Donald in the Haliburton area. Mrs. Garry Gaul of Stouff- ville spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee, while Dr, Gall was attending a convention. Visitors with Mrs. Ena Howatt on Sunday noon were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Howatt and family; afternoon visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Howatt and girls of Stratford. Mrs. Laura Sundercock celebrated her birthday on Friday by spending the weekend with her niece, Mr. and Mrs. Pere McBride, Carlow. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook attended a banquet in Centralia on Thursday night of 1961-62 Matrons and Patrons of O.E.S. Mrs. Jessie Jones visited her son, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Jones and family in Goderich twp. when they celebrated David's first birthday. Mrs. Bert Brunsdon visited Bert in Westminster Hospital, London on Wednesday .when he had surgery. Mrs. Ena Howatt and Mrs. Jessie Jones attended the U.C.W. meeting in Blyth on Monday night. Mrs. Howatt spoke on Alma College which —they attended in August. Visitors with Mr. Will Govier and Mrs. Lillie Webster on Sun- day were Mr. and Mrs. Wes Roe, Seaforth and Mr, and Mrs. Jack Hamilton, London. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Len Caldwell spent Friday to Monday on a trip to Flint, Michigan and other places of interest, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Armstrong and Colleen Carter visited on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Ken Armstrong and family of Strat- ford. Cathy Carter returned with them to School of Nursing, Stratford.
