competed in cross country meet
on the farm of W.C. Millson,
one mile east of Kinburn, last
week.
The original date for the race
had been set for October 17 but
extremely poor weather forced
several postponements until last

Hullett Central which had
planned to attend was unable to
send a team on the new date
because of a previously planned
school activity.
Seven area schools were
represented with each sending a
team of six runners in each of
the eight groups. A total of 336
pupils were thus able to take
part in this annual fall event.
Distances run were: Midgets
(10 and under) and Juniors (11
years old). 11 /4 miles; Inter-
mediates (12 years old) and
Seniors (13 and over) 11 /.! miles.

small creek, plowed field,
pasture land, hilly and flat and
a lane along a field.

placing basis - 1st place one
point, 2nd place two points, 3rd
place three points, etc. to last

The Clinton Colts opened
their regular season in a win-
ning note by dropping season in
a winning note by dropping the
Durham Jimier Huskies Six
goals in the third period by the
Colts ensured them of their win.
The line of Butch Fleet, Rick,
Fremlin and Mel Hohner
produced seven of the nine
goals, Fleet had four goals; Rick
Fremlin had two; while Mel
Hohner had one, Other colt
marksmen were Dean Reid, and.
Don MacDougall.
Besides the goal scoring, the
fans witnessed spectacular
goaltending by Dennis
Fleischauer, Time and time
again he stopped possible goals
as he held on until the third
period when the Colts caught
fire. Although they won by an,
impressive score, the Coltg
weren't in top physical shape.
Extending the practises from
one 'hour to two hours might
overcome this problem.
The management and players
of the Colts would like to ex-
press their thanks to Bill Ger-
man, the proprietor of Bill's
Bowling and Billiards for his
assistance when needed. They
also are glad to announce that
the Hully Gully Sno-Sport and
Recreation at Varna have or-
dered new uniforms and will
arrive as soon as possible. The
Bully Gully is well known for
helping different teams around
the county and are pleased to
help the Colts get off to a good
start. People like these two are
going to enable Intermediate
hockey to continue in Clinton.
All we (the Colts) wish from the
rest of the community is their
fan support. Next game is this
Thursday when the Colts play
host to Lucknow (Paul Hender-
son's hometown?) at 8:30 p.m,
at the Community Centre. A
doubtful starter for this game
