DEVELOPMENT PEOPLE 97 Eglinton Ave., East Toronto 315, Ontario The Clinton Colts begin play . in the W.O.A.A. tonight at the arena against the Durham Huskies at 8:30 p.m. Good fan attendance is necessary or inter- mediate hockey will again die and hopes of the players and management will vanish, not only for this year but for the future years. Your attendance will be appreciated by all connected with the team. Talent on the team seems to be increasing as more and more players are practising each night. Among the new arrivals on the team are Don McDougall and Bill Stirling. Don has had Junior B experience in Goderich and Bill is well known for his good years with the Clinton The recently founded Huron Soccer Association held its first meeting on Monday evening at the Goderich and District Collegiate Institute. Guests at the get together were Peter W. Jackson president of the London and District Soccer Association, James Agathos, secretary of that association and Alfred Johnson, secretary of the London branch of Ontario Referees. The guests from London spoke to the group on various problems facing league organization in both the senior and minor divisions. It was agreed that if enough support can be found Huron should forth its own senior loop as a league in membership with the London and District Soccer Association. The London Association promised every assistance in set- ting up the new league and told Huron organizers that in time, when the league was on its own feet, they would recommend to the Ontario Soccer Association that Huron be allowed to form its own independent association. If Huron was not able to form enough teams to operate its own league, a minimum of four, it was also pointed out that they would be welcomed in the Lon- don Association's third division. At the moment organizers hope to see at least two teams from Goderich as well as one from Seaforth and one from Juniors. Both players have looked very aggressive in inter squad games. Coach Ken Daer is definitely going to have problems selecting a starting line up for the games as nearly 30 players are involved. The Clinton fans will get an opportunity to see one of the top hockey players in the country in the name of Butch Graham. The Durham native has played semi- pro and senior hockey but this year, he turned down playing senior hockey in Durham and now is playing for the Huskies, the intermediate team from Durham. He also was a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Dut- chmen when they were Canada's entry in International Clinton with other communities still to be contacted about the proposal. Goderich Recreation Director Mike Dymond attended Monday evening's meeting and promised all assistance possible through his office. From his facilities let- ters are to be sent out to all the various recreational agencies in Huron asking for participation. In addition to operating this senior league the new Huron Soccer Association will be operating minor soccer leagu'es as well. There are many more than enough boys in Goderich alone who would like to play and teams are known to exist already in Sea forth and Dunga nnon. In preparation for the up- coming season coaches in the minor ranks, and any association members wishing to become referees, will be offered clinics by the Ontario Soccer Association free of charge. At such coaches clinics those successful become third class referees as well as having received instruction in coaching techniques for young people. Referee clinics operated by the O.S.A. turn out accredited referees. A further meeting is to be held in the near future and all interested soccer people from across the county will be asked to attend. Am- munition must be the right size fore the gun and remove oil and grease from the chamber and barrel before firing. The stock and forearm should be in perfect condition and all parts of the gun must be tight for safe use. BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET BEFORE YOU SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER. Identify the game you're shooting beyond any doubt, NEVER POINT A GUN AT ANYTHING YOU DO NOT WANT TO KILL. Avoid all , horseplay while handling a gun. DO NOT USE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR DRUGS WHILE HANDLING FIREARMS. Be alert, do not hunt or handle a gun unless you are physically and mentally in good condition. This match finished up in a -4-4 tie. Last Sunday they played in Strathroy and lost 8-6 in a tough contest.
