Bible Societym
canvass in Clinton
Starting this coming week, a
group of canvassers from the
local churches will solicit funds
for the Canadian Bible Society.
Few people realize that the
Bible Society has produced the
all time world's , best seller
paper-back in "Good News for
Modern Man". Recently the
society conducted an experiment
in Chicago in which they chose a
five-block area in the district
with the highest crime rate on
the continent and flooded the
area with 7,000 Gospels of John.
The Bible Society received 200
requests for the whole New
Testament in modern English.
Even more significant was the
fact that the police reported an
almost immediate drop in the
crime rate of that particular
A wedding trip to Northern
Ontario followed the October 6
late afternoon wedding of Bar-
bara Jean Marlatt and Harvey
William Holland, in Ontario
Street United Church, Clinton.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs, Pauline Marlatt, 64 East
Street, Goderich, and the
groom's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. William Holland, R.R.4
Clinton.
The bride wore a polyester
satin gown trimmed with
scalloped edging and rose ap-
plique. The A-line dress had a
sheer yoke, a stand-up collar
and long lilypoint sleeves. She
carried a shower of red roses,
pink carnations and baby's
breath.
Matron of honor was Mrs.
Larry Duncan, sister of the
bride, Kitchener. Bridesmaids
were Miss ,Nancy Greenwood.

area.
Perhaps even more significant
yet is the work that the Bible
Society is doing in the far east,
Here over 350 million copies of
the "Little Red Book of the
Quotations of Chairman Mao"
have been distributed. It is little
wonder that Maoism is
spreading. To present youth
with the claims of Christ the
Bible Society is now publishing
a little booklet of Scripture
passages of the Life and
Teachings of Jesus Christ.
It is hoped that, in spite of so
many appeals for other
worthwhile causes, the people of
Clinton will respond with open
hearts when the canvasser calls
at your home. The need is
urgent and the cause is vital.
cousin of the bride, Burford and

the groom, Clinton. Flowergirl

waisted heavenly blue flocked
