As this picture of last year's International Plowing Match at-
tests, this year's event should be as big and popular. The
opening of the Plowing Match and Tent City on the 650-acre
farm of Oliver Zehr in Sebringville (three miles west of Strat-
ford) is next Tuesday, September 26 and the match runs
through to Saturday, September 30th. This paper is entered in
the match on Friday, September 29 and we're hoping to see
plenty of local residents there to cheer us on to victory. (Dept.
of Agriculture photo)

TIRES
Consumers' Association of
Canada advises car drivers that
radial tires give longer mileage
and better traction. But, unless
the original tires on your car
were radials, special adjust-
ments will be needed to allow
you to use them because of their
different handling charac-
teristics. If you do use radials,
all tires on your car should be
radials, including snow tires.
CAC headquarters are at 100
Gloucester Street, Ottawa, On-
tario.
Plowing Match starts Tuesday
through Saturday, September
30. It is expected to attract more
than 100,000 visitors.
There will be a parade every
day commencing at 1 p.m.
Although the plowing match
itself is the main event, it
represents only a relatively
small portion of the activities.
More than 300 exhibitors will
show everything from farm trac-
tors to snowmobiles, from cam-
ping trailers to kitchen interiors,
inside a huge tented city.
A Ladies' Program is presen-
ted every day from 11 a.m. to 4
p.m, There will be a fashion
show and cosmetic demon-
stration every afternoon,
followed by demonstrations of
flower arranging, cooking
schools and a variety show.
The Queen of the Furrow
Contest will create keen com-
petition among the ladies com-
peting for a new automobile and
a cash prize.
Saturday will be the big day.
In addition to all the other ac-
tivities there will be a horseshoe
pitching contest and the finals
of the South-West Ontario Tug-
of-War Competition. In the af-
ternoon, a plowing contest
restricted to the Mayors of
Municipalities is expected to
spark some lively interest.
The International Plowing
Match continues an Ontario
tradition that dates back to
1846 when the first contest was
held,
