Consumers' Association of
Canada advises carpet buyers
that wool is a longwearing fibre
with excellent texture retention
qualities. It resists soil, cleans
well but stains are sometimes
difficult to remove. The major
drawback to wool carpet is that
it fuzzes and lints. However, the
fuzzing rate does drop off as the
carpet grows older. CAC

St, Joseph's Ronlart Catholic
Church, Clinton, Ontario was
the setting for the marriage of
Maria Heynsbergen, daughter Of
Mr, and Mrs. Martin Heyn-
sbergen, R.R.2, Seaforth and
George Van. Der Heyden, son of
Mr. and Mrs, Tony Van Der
Heyden, Forest on August 26th,
with Father McMaster of-
ficiating at the double-ring
ceremony. The side Altar was
decorated with red and white
carnations and candelabra.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a floor
length full cathedral gown with
puffed sleeves and cuffs, short
train and a shoulder-length veil.
She carried a bouquet, of red
roses,
Miss Dorothy Heynsbergen of
Seaforth was the maid of honor
and the bridesmaids were Miss
Betty Heynsbergen, Seaforth
and Miss Margaret Van Der
Heyden, Forest and Miss Elle
Wammes, Clinton, They wore
full-length green polyester satin
gowns with white and black
trimming and gospel sleeves.
They carried yellow shasta
daisies.

The members of the United
Church Women held their
meeting in the basement of the
church last Thursday evening.
The president, Mrs. Ralph
Stephenson, opened the meeting
with a prayer and Group Three
were in charge of Devotions with
Mrs. Gordon Hill leading. A
hymn was sung and Mrs. Hill
gave a reading "The
importance of every patch in the
quilt". The offering was taken
up by Mrs, Perce Johnston and
dedicated by Mrs. Hill, Mrs,
William Dowson read a poem
"When Mother cooked with
wood".
A portion from the book
"Keys to Happiness" was read
by Mrs. Charles Reid. Mrs. Gor-
don Johnston . read the
secretary's report and the roll
call“ivag nitswerecr by 16 mem-
bers. Letters- of 'thank you' were
read by Mrs. Mervyn Johnston.
Mrs. Bob Webster gave the
treasurer's report. There were
74 calls made to sick and shut-
Young people from the
Crediton United Church sup-
plied the music for the Christian
Women's Club Sunday evening
song service. The devotional
period was taken by Mrs. Doug
Warren. -
Marie Flynn of Clinton along
with Norman Speir and Jerry
Collings provided the music for
Monday's get- together. During
the afternoon's activities two
new residents were introduced
and welcomed to Huronview.
One hundred and fifty
residents along with several of
their relatives and friends were
entertained on Family Night by
Earl and Martha Heywood of
Wingham. The Heywoods are
well known to many of the
residents at Huronview not only
for their appearances on CKNX
T.V. and radio but because
Martha was originally from

The music at the church was
provided by the Delaware Folk
Mass singers with 20 in the

The dinner and reception was
held at the Legion I-fall, Clinton.
The bride's mother wore a pink
and white sleeveless floor-length
gown with corsage of orchids
and wearing pink roses in her
hair,
For the wedding trip to Nor-
thern Ontario and Michigan, the
bride travelled in navy blue
slacks with cuffs, white blazer
and red, blue and white ac-
cessories. She wore a corsage of
red roses.
Guests were present from
Mississauga, Chatham, Forest,
Seaforth, Parkhill, Windsor,
London, Clinton, Sarnia and
Galt.
The couple will reside in
Forest.

The semi-annual Regional
U.C.W. Convention will be held
in Brucefield United Church on
Thursday, October 12.
It was decided to have a
smorgasbord supper on Wed-
nesday, October 4 in the Church
basement. Mrs. Gordon Hill
closed the meeting with a quiet
thought for the evening. Lunch
was served by hostesses Mrs.
William McAsh, Mrs. Louis
Taylor and Mrs. Ivan
McClymont.

The anniversary service of the
United church will be held next
Sunday, September 24, with
Rev. P. Dobson of Grand Bend
as guest minister.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan
McClyrnont visited, on Sunday
last with Mt: arid Mrs. Richard
HalloWay 'of 'Kitchener.
Mr. Floyd McAsh of
Hamilton visited on the
weekend with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John McAsh,
Zurich and Earl from Exeter,
and they have lived in Wingham
for a number of years. The
program included musical and
vocal numbers as well as Earl's
demonstration of magic. Alice
Buchanan thanked the enter-
tainers on behalf of the
residents.
With the fall and winter
season approaching one won-
ders what can be done to make
the spare time of the residents at
the Home more enjoyable. If
you or your groups have any
ideas, we would be glad to hear
from you.
Some of the most urgent
needs at present are a sponsor
for an over 90 club, volunteers
for various programs, , and
variety programs for family
night with a special request for
vocal quartets.

When Ontario Street United
Church celebrates its ninety-
fourth anniversary on Sunday,
September 24, the Rev. Grant L.
Mills, former minister, will
speak at both morning and
evening services.
The theme of the 11 aril. ser-
vice will be, "What Has Become
of our Song?", with special
music by the choir and Mrs.
George Townsend and Mrs.

Christine De Vries, daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. Harry De
Vries of Nanticoke, Ont., married Auke Bylsma, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Wobbe Bylsma, Blyth. The Reverend Alvin Behkema of
Clinton officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The couple are
residing at R.R.1, Blyth.

A meeting of the executive
members of Huron NDP Riding
Association was held in
Goderich Sunday night to
finalize, details for the Septem-
ber 27 nomination meeting in
Brucefield. Election strategies
were reviewed and preliminary
appointments to the election
committee were made.
Special speaker for the
nomination meeting will be Ted
Bounsall, MPP Windsor-
Walkerville, Provincial NDP
labour critic and member of the
Ontario NDP Municipal Affairs
Committee.
Federal campaign manager
will be Paul Carroll, Goderich,
who reviewed ,,,,current plans.
Election 'materials will' he, pur-

Manpower will prepare all sign
material. Efforts will be direc-
ted at the production of a com-
prehensive magazine with
national themes portrayed in
terms of local issues. The cam-
paign slogan will be "New
Democrats Listen": there will
be no campaign song.
In further discussion, it was
anticipated that certain student
voters may be deprived of their
vote because they will be atten-
ding school out-of-town on Oc-
tober 30. They would normally
appear on local enumeration
lists.
It was decided to have Riding
Vice-president, Herb Klopp,
Zurich, obtain additional proxy
forms from the Returning Of-
ficer to have them available at
