The groom is the elder son of
Mr, and Mrs. Hugh Bennett, RR
6, Goderich and the bride is the
elder daughter of Mr, and Mrs,
Robert Wallace RR. 4, Seaforth.
Given in marriage by her
father and mother, the bride
wore a floor-length gown of
white Swiss dot over peau de
sole fashioned with a high
collar leg-of-mutton sleeves and
deep flounce accented with
delicate lace trim, A chapel veil
fell softly to the waist. She
carried a cascade of white
daisies and yellow sweetheart
roses.
The maid of honour was Miss
Deborah Wallace, RR 4,
Seaforth, sister of the bride.
Miss Jill Bennett of Toronto,
sister of the groom and Miss
Gerda Willems, RR 4, Seaforth
were bridesmaids. Miss Kerry.
Beechey was flowergirl. They
wore matching dresses of yellow
swiss dot over taffeta styled
similarly to the bride's with
short puff sleeves, g:aey carried,
white baskets of cokira bahY
mums, white daisies and
stephanotis. The soloist was
Mrs, Sharon Murray, and she
sang "The WeddineBlessink".,
She was accompanied by Mrs.
Minna Scott at the organ,
The groomsman:, was, Mr.

Clinton and the ushers were Mr.
James Bennett of RR 6,
Goderich, ,brother of.the groom
and Mr. William WaITade of St.
Catharines, brother of the bride.
The ring-bearer was Master
Paul Menheere.
The wedding dinner was
served in the church parlour
where Mrs. James Hayden of
RR 3, Goderich was mistress of
ceremonies. A reception
followed at the home of the
bride.
For a wedding trip to
Northern Ontario, the bride
donned a brown and white
gingham dress and a bronze And
white rose corsage,

The August meeting of the
Auburn Women's Institute was
held in the Community
Memorial hall with the first
vice-president Mrs. Thomas
Haggitt, in 'charge. She
welcomed the members and
visitors and the members of the
Walkerburn club, Mrs. Haggitt
conducted memorial service for
the late Mrs. Ena Craig who
had been president, secretary-
treasurer and a District
convener.
The minutes were approved
as read by Mrs. Donald Haines.
The leaders for the 4-1-1 clubs
will be Mrs. William Empey,
Mrs. John Hildebrand, Mrs.
Frank Raithby, Mrs. Thomas
I-Taggitt, Mrs. Jessie Naylor and
Mrs. Donald Cartwright,
It was announced that the
short course in Women's
Institute procedure will be held
on March 29 with Mrs. Maryn
Partly in charge. The members
made plans to go to the
Huronview Auxiliary meeting.
The bus trip to Simcoe and
McConnell's nursery on
September fourteenth. was
planned and Mrs, Robert
.Artintr was appointed to help
Mrs. Celia Taylor to plan the
busload which will be made up
of W.I. members, the
Horticultural Society members
and Auburn residents,
The W.I. members appointed
committees to cater to a
wedding on September first and
plans were outlined for the
'Huron Count,' rally to be held
on October second when the
75th anniversary will be
observed with a special dinner
and program.
Piano solos were played by
Vaughan and Donna Flunking.
A duet, The Magic Dragon, was
sung by Lorraine Chamney and
Doris Naylor accompanied by
Mrs, Gordon Chamney. They
sang "Hlowing in The Wind" as
an encore, The collection was
taken tip by Lynn Turner and
Trudy Machan, The
Walkerburn club held a home-
made baking sale to support
their foster Korean child.
Progressive euchre and
croltinole were played. Prize
winners were Mrs. William
Dodd, Mrs. Leonard
Archambault, Mrs, Gordon
Powell, Mrs. Gordon Chamney,
Mrs, Alfred Fry, Mrs, Thomas
Lawlor, Mrs. Robert Phillips,
Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson and
Mrs, Richard Brooks. Mrs,
William Straughan was
presented with a gift for having
the nearest birthday and Mrs.
Robert Turner had the closest
anniversary.
Lunch was served by Mrs,
Arnold Craig, Mrs, Major
Youngblut, Mrs, Keith Meehan
and Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell,

Allen.
Mr, and Mrs. Stanley Ball

last week from a trip to the
Maritime Provinces.

Scarborough visited last week
with his sister, Mr. and Mrs,
William MCM, Mr. MacKay and
Mrs. Moss visited at Moncrief
with Mrs. Frank Harrison and
Marshall and Mr. and Mrs,
Scott McLean.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Archambault visited last week
with his sister, Mrs, Laurie
Duncalfe in Toronto and visited
also with Mr. Laurie Duncalte
in Sunnybrook hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. William Seers
and daughters, Misses Gail,
Fay6 and Carol returned last
Saturday from a trip to
Moosonee,
Mrs. Richard Brooks is a
patient. in Clinton hospital. Mrs.
Andrew Kirkconnell is a patient
in Clinton hospital where she
has undergone surgery, Mrs.
Fred Wagner is still a patient in
the same hospital,
Mr, and Mrs. Maitland Allen
attended the reunion of the
Snyder family last week at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Snyder of Colborne Township,
It was held to honor Mr. and
Mrs. Emery Snyder of Moose
Jaw Saskatchewan. Both Mr.
Emery Snyder and Mr. Allen
are former railroad employees.
Mr, and Mrs, Stewart Toll
and boys of London visited
recently with Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth McDougall.
MRS. JOHN CARTER
Funeral services were held at
the Keith Arthur Funeral home
for Mrs. John Carter who passed
away in Goderich hospital after
a lengthy illness. Born in
England, Jane Elizabeth
Osbaldeston was the daughter
of the late William Osbaldeston
and Elizabeth Turner, She was
in her 88th year. Following her
marriage, she resided at
Eastend, Saskatchewan,
Auburn, Woodstock and
Huronview. She is survived by
her husband, John Carter of
Huronview, two sons, Harold of
Goderich and Clifford of
Woodstock; three daughters,
Mrs. flack (Elva) Armstrong,
Auburn, 'Mrs. Eric (Clarissd)'
Price, North Vancouver, B.C,
Mrs. William (Irene) Riley of
Tofino, B.C.
Eight grandchildren and one
sister, Mrs. May Benson of
Eastend, Saskatchewan also
survive,
Pastor Alfred Fry conducted
the service and burial took place
in Blyth Union cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fred
Armstrong, Gerald McDowell,
Joseph Hampson, Gerald Glenn,
Douglas Warwick and Bruce
Carter. Relatives were present
from Toronto, Woodstock,
Dundas and North Vancouver.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Johnston and Darrel returned
home last week after a holiday
with their daughter and son-in-
law at Kenora. They also visited
friends at Pilot Mound and
Winnipeg.
Mrs. Don Barker of King City
is visiting this week at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
McClyrnont.

The Sholdice family held
their reunion at, the home of Mr.
and Mrs. 4, R„ Hill, Hrucefield
on Sunday, Aug. 20th in honour
of Mrs, Marion Sholdice on her
90th birthday. Mrs. Sholdice
was the recipient of many cards
and congratulatory rnemlges,
Included was a plaque from
the Ontario Government,
presented to her by the Hon.
Chas, McNaughton.
Guests ,were present from
Windsor, London, Toronto and
relatives in Brucefield.

Mrs. Geo. Henderson spent
last week with her niece, Mrs.
Herb Demers and Mr, Stevens,

Margaret Mcqueen are
vacationing in Southampton.
We are pleased to report that
Mr. Wilson is home from the
London Hospital much
improved in health,
Mr. and Mrs. Vic Hargreaves
spent Sunday with Mr, and Mrs.
R. Handcock, Oshawa, Their
two sons returned with them for
holidays.
Congratulations are in order
for Mrs. Marion Sholdice who
celebrated her 90th birthday on
August 22.

Mrs. Fred Middleton returned
recently from a delightful
holiday at Frontier Lodge in the
Elliot Lake District,
Mr, and Mrs. D. A. White and
daughter Carol of Ottawa
attended the "Centennial
Picnic" and are visiting district
relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. James C.
Shearer of Bright also attended
the church picnic at Stewart
Middleton's last Sunday.
Mrs. Edward Wise is a
patient in Victoria Hospital,
London. Her many friends wish
her a speedy recovery. She was
greatly missed at the recent
church picnic.

commander of Canadian Forces Base Clinton is senior staff
officer at the cadet camp where 1500 young men from all
parts of the province trained in swimming, camping and

Looit couple has pretty wedding
Congratulations to Mrs.
Isabelle Hamilton of
Huronview, formerly of the
Auburn district, who celebrated
her 98th birthday last week.
Mrs, Celia Taylor, Mrs. Ed
Davies, Mrs. William
Straughan, Mrs. George Millian
and Miss Margaret Jackson of
Blyth visited her to mark the
occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Humphrey and baby daughter
Carolyn of Blair visited on
Saturday evening with Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Trommer and
family.
Mr. William J. Craig spent
the weekend at Lucan with his
son, Robert J. Craig and family.

Royal Oak, Michigan, visited
last week with his aunt, Mrs.
Elsie Scott.

returned home to Manitou,
Manitoba after a six-week visit
with relatives.

Mrs. William Clark spent a
few days last week in Toronto
with Misses Jean Houston and
Jean Jamieson and attended the
Scottish Festival at the C.N.E,
Friends and neighbours called
on Mrs. William Straughan on
the occasion of her birthday last
week and Open House was held
to honour the occasion. Over 30
friends called during the
afternoon and were served
birthday cake and tea,
Master Robbie Livermore of
Fordwich visited last week with
his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Haines.
The annual memorial service
of Hope Chapel cemetery is to
be held on Sunday, August 27th
at 3 p.m.. with Rev. Stanley
McDonald of Londesboro as
guest speaker. You are
requested to bring your own
lawn chairs.
