China—Appearing for the
first time at the CNE, the

Donald Howard Welsh.
The bride is the only daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon D,
Scotchmer, Bayfield, and the
groom's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Welsh, Clinton.
Rev. J. Reddick performed the
double-ring ceremony. Organist
Mrs. Wm. Cox who
accompanied the soloist Peter
Postill singing "We have only
just begun," before the
ceremony and, "The Theme
from Love Story" during the
signing of the register.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a floor
length gown of silk sheer nylon
over peau de soie featuring a
high neckline and sheer full
sleeves trimmed with
embroidered guipure lace. The
lace formed a panel down the
front of the gown and bordered
the chapel train. The veil was
blusher style falling from, a
crown of matching embroidered
lace. She carried a cascade
ouquet of swc, theart roses and
bite stephanotis and ivy.

as matron of honor. Mrs. Pam
cotchmer, sister-in-law and

bride were bridesmaids.
They were gowned alike in
silk Swiss dot nylon in colors
of blue, yellow and pink
respectively. They wore white
silk mohair hats with matching
trim and carried white baskets
of mixed flowers in accenting
colors.
The groom was attended by
his brother, Ralph Welsh, Wm.
Scotchmer, brother of the bride,
and Terry Mason, friend of the
groom, were ushers.
The bride's mother chose a
floor-length gown of plain
yellow and figured sheer nylon
over taffeta featuring long full
sleeves. She wore a corsage of
coral carnations and white
stephanotis. The groom's
mother chose a floor-length
gown of pink figured sheer nylon
over taffeta. She wore a corsage
of blue carnations and white
stephanotis.
The reception was held in the
church parlour which was
tastefully decorated in pink,
yellow and blue.
For a, wedding trip to
Manitoulin Island and
Northern Ontario the bride
travelled in a white suit
trimmed with black and white
polka dots. She wore red
accessories and a corsage of red
roses,
Guests were present from
Camp Borden, Waterloo
Toronto, London, Clarksburg,
Londesboro, Goderich and
Clinton.
Prior to the marriage the
bride was, guest at a surprise
shower at Mrs, Dayle (Tom)
Leppington's assisted by Pam
Scotchmer and Wendy Greer.
The employees at London Life
gave her a miscellaneous
shower. The ladies of the
Bayfield United Church
entertained at a miscellaneous
shower for friends and
neighbours.
The couple will reside at R.R.
5, Clinton.
Marriage vows were
exchanged between Brenda
Joyce Stirling
and William Frederick
Vanderland, both of Weston,
Ontario, in a double-ring
ceremony heard by Rev. James
Reddoch in St. Andrew's United
Church, Bayfield. Mrs. William
Cox, RR 2, Goderich, presided
at the organ and accompanied
the soloist Peter Postill, RR 3,
Clinton, who sang "Oh Perfect
Love" and "I'll Walk Beside
You."
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Sterling,
Bayfield, and the groom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Frederick Vanderland of
Weston.
Mr. Sterling gave his
daughter in marriage. She wore
a formal gown of white
polyester shantung with a
scalloped yoke of nylon tulle
accented with lace florets, Her
cathedral veil of silk illusion
edged with miniature lace
florets was held by a floral
headpiece and she carried a
cascade bouquet,of white shasta
mums, yellow sweetheart roses
and stephanotis caught with
greenery.
Miss Marilyn O'Brien of
Sarnia was maid of honor
gowned in lilac flocked batiste
with matching velvet trim.
Wearing identical dresses in
shades of pink and blue
respectively were the
bridesmaids, Miss Mary Beth
Harland, Weston, and Miss
Debra Argyle, Goderich, cousin
of the bride. They wore
matching headpieces and
carried nosegays of yellow and
white shasta poms with straw
flowers the color of their dresses.
Groomsman was Lasse Vainio
of Kingston, and John Panko of
Weston and Clay Stirling,
brother of the bride, ushered the
guests.
The Receptions were held at

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson
visited on Sunday with their
'daughter,. Mr. and Mrs: John
Lawrie and family in Kitchener.
A small gathering of friends
honored Miss Vicky Finch with
a shower on Saturday, August
19 at the home of Miss Wendy
Caldwell.
Mrs. Charlotte Bell of Blyth
spent the weekend with her
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Hunking and Murray.
Miss Bill Wall and Dawn,
Mrs. Murray Lee and Susan all
of Kincardine, called on their
aunts, Mrs. Cowan and Mrs.
Robinson on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cowan and
Greg of Hanover are
vacationing with his mother,
Mrs. G. Cowan.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Hunking of
Exeter visited on Sunday with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Hunking and Murray,
the church and the Legion Hall,
Clinton.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Stirling chose a mint green
polyester dress with overlay of
white lace. Her corsage of
yellow roses, orange carnations
and white stephanotis
complemented her ensemble.
The groom's mother was
gowned in mauve chiffon and
wore a corsage of pink
carnations, white stephanotis
and mauve poms.
For travelling to Northern
Ontario the bride changed to an
off-white Swiss knit dress with
matching accessories and her
corsage was of pink and white
carnations.
The couple are residing in
Weston, Ontario.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was honored at showers
held in Weston, Bayfield and
Goderich
Bouquets of gladioli of
various colors decorated St.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church
in Kitchener on July 22 as
Debbie Ann Hopf, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bowers of
Wellesley, became the bride of
Keith Edward Arthur (Casey)
Homuth, son of Mrs. Neva
Homuth and the late Mr.
Homuth.
In the double-ring ceremony,
the bride wore a lace and crepe
skirt fashioned with an empire
waist and long-sleeved white
satin bodice. The twelve-foot
veil was held by a crystal crown
of lace and she carried a
bouquet of coral daisies, white
carnations and lilies.

Dietrich and the bride's sister,
Cathy Bowers, all of Wellesley.
They wore identical gowns of
tangerine nylon organdy with
orange ribbons which fell from
the empire waistlines to the
floor. Sharon Bowers, sister of
the bride, wore green nylon
organdy with green velvet
ribbons falling to the floor from
the waistline.
The flower girl, Michelle
Stemmler of Kitchener, wore a
gown of white crepe satin with
green velvet accents. All the
attendants wore coral and green

rose buds tucked delicately in
their hair.
Mr. Ronald Carey of Toronto
was the groomsman and Pat
Hester, Fred Whalther, and Roy
and Del Altman, all of
Kitchener, were ushers. John
Murray Garrett of Bayfield was
the ringbearer.
Following the wedding, a
reception was held at the Moose
Lodge Hall in Kitchener.
After a wedding trip to New
York State, Detroit and Miller
Lake, Toronto, the couple will
reside in Toronto.
