The bride' is the .daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Eugene Finkbeiner of Thornton .and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Demean MacKay of Auburn. Before Reverend L, Warr of Goderich, friend of the bride. the young couple exchanged wedding vows and rings. Mrs. B. Cumming of Thornton presided at the organ before the ceremony and during the signing of the register, Escorted by her father, the bride wore her mother's wedding gown of antique satin with an overskirt, head piece and gloves of Spanish lace from her maternal grandmother's wedding sixty years ago. She carried a wicker basket of white daisy mums, pale yellow sweetheart roses and English ivy' Miss Maureen Finkbeiner was her sister's maid of honor, Her long gown of pale blue polyester crepe was fashioned similarly to the bride's. Mark Arthur of Auburn, friend of the groom was best The annual children's day was observed at , the July meeting of the Auburn Women's Institute when it met in the Community Memorial hall. The president, Mrs. Donald Cartwright was in charge of the meeting. A program followed which. was presented by the young people and children. Lynn Turner played a piano solo, Wendy Powell, Cecile and Mille Legris sang accompanied by Miss Lorraine Chamney. A solo was sung by Janice Daer and Miss Doris Naylor and Miss Lorraine Chamney sang a duet accompanied by Miss Lynn Turner. An elimination contest conducted by Mrs. Gordon lChamney.was won by Katherine Meehan. All of 36 children sang se'N'i'erill* choruses they had learned at Bible school. Then they all went to the back of the hall where they enjoyed a fish pond. Mrs. Cartwright conducted the business and MrS. Donald Haines read the minutes which were approved as read. She also gave the financial statement. Mrs. Gordon Taylor reported on the street signs For the village Personals Mrs. Della Thompson of Arkell visited alst week with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haines, Mr. Gary Rodger, an employee of Speidel has gone to Providence, Rhode Island where he is on a three months training course, Mr. and Mrs. Maitland'Allen returned last week from a visit at Gorrie with Mr. George Timm, Miss Erna Betkhe and Mrs. 'Edith Kooke. Master Paul Helesic of Goderich has been holidaying with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Rodger and uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rodger and family. Miss Janet Coleman and Mr. Jack McIntosh of London spent the week-end with Mrs. William ' Clark. Mr. and Mrs. James Henry of Royal Oak Michigan spent the week-end with his sister, Mrs. Elsie Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan .MacKay, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Arthur, Miss Judy Arthur, Mr, man. The groom .and best elan were dressed in kilts, the groom in the full dress of the Ancient MacKay and the best man in the Farquharson tartan. Guests were ushered by 'ate bride's brother, Michael Finkbeiner of Thornton and Nelson Kriko of London. After the ceremony the bridal party was piped from the church by Piper David MacDonald of Lucknow. The reception took place in a marquee in the garden of the bride's home, The bride's; mother received the guests wearing a full-length blue floral chiffon dress with a corsage of deep pink roses, She was assisted by the groom's mother wearing a fulMength pink floral chiffon dress with a corsage of pink roses. 'The young couple will reside in London. In September they will be travelling to Spain. Both are graduates of the Regional School of Medical Laboratory Technology, Victoria Hospital, London, Guests were present from London, Clinton, Goderich, Auburn, Exeter, Kintail, Lucknow, St. Thomas, Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Bracebridge and Thornton. An honored guest was the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Hilda Finkbeiner of Clinton. Mrs. Cartwright announced that Mr. Cartwright had finished the rest-room' for the park by the river and it had been placed there. The members accepted the invitation to attend the Blyth. W.I. on August 3rd. Mrs. William Empey, Mrs. John Hildebrand, Mrs, Thotna. Haggitt, Mrs. Frank Raithby and Mrs. Jessie Naylor will be the 4-H club leaders. It was decided that each girl whose mother was not a W.I. member should pay one dollar to help cover expenses. Plans were made for the August meeting which will be a fun night. The members of the Walkerton club will have a bake sale. A bus trip is to be taken in September to Simcoe to view the dahlias and roses. Program for the Huronview Auxiliary will be, presented by the Auburn W.I. and they will assist to serve lunch. The prize for the youngest person present went to Angela Schneider. Lunch was served by the hostesses Mrs. Roy Daer, Mrs. William Empey, Mrs. Gordon Chamney and Mrs. R. Legris. Peter McDonald, Mr. Mark Arthur, Mr. Brian Craig, Mr. and Mrs. William L. Craig, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Craig, Mr. Keith Scott and Miss Nancy Ginn of Colborne Township attended the MacKay-Finkbinder wedding at Thornton last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hyde of Guelph visited last week with Mrs. Ralph Munro, Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Davies were Mr. and Mrs, Norman Taylor of Belmont and Mr. and Mrs. Ian Fleck and daughter Carolyn of Belmont. Recently Mrs. Ralph Munro attended the Mountain reunion at Avonbank, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haines attended the wedding of her great-niece in Carfee, U.S.A. last week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer German of Woodstock spent the weekend with Mr, and Mrs. Ed Davies. Baskets of multi-coloured gladioli made a pretty setting in St: Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Clinton, Saturday, July 22 when Walter Edward Denys and Nancy Jean Lapp exchanged wedding vows at ;3:20 p.m. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Denys of R.R. :3 Kippen and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F, Elliott Lapp of R.R. 1 Auburn. Father D. McMaster and Pastor Alfred Fry of Auburn officiated for the double-ring ceremony. The organist was Mrs. Donald Kai of Oakville and she accompanied Misses Nancy Anderson and Betty Moss of Auburn, when they sang Bless this House, The Lord's Prayer and 0 Perfect Love. Given in marriage by her father, the bride looked lovely in a floor-length dress of imported chantilly lace with ° scalloped neck line and long sleeves, A scalloped train fell from the empire waistline. A floral headpiece held her shoulder- length veil and she wore a diamond drop necklace and carried a bridal bouquet of pink sweetheart roses and stephanotis, Miss Brenda Ball of Auburn was the maid of honor wearing a floor-length gown of flocked batiste over mauve underskirt, styled with mandarin collar, empire waistline,. short puffy sleeves and long mauve velvet ribbon.. The bridesmaids were dressed in floor-length gowns styled similar to the maid of honor, Mrs. William Vanstone, Church services at Knox United Church while Pastor and Mrs. Alfred Fry are on vacation are — August 6 — 11 a.m. — Gideon Speaker August 13 — at Donnybrook — Drug Concern Speaker, August 20 — Rev. Mrs. Edna Gruinison and Mr. Verne Bolinger of Detroit, Mrs. Luella Phillips of Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Robinson of Clinton visited one day last week with Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Allen. Mrs. Roy Farrow and Mrs. Jack Young visited last Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnston, Miss Laura Phillips and Mrs. Gordon Taylor. Miss Cameron of Londesboro visited a few days last week Benmiller, wore rose pink, Miss Diane Denys, Kippen, chose yellow and Miss Brenda Archambault selected green. They carried bouquets of multi- coloured daisies and carnations. Miss Darlene Denys, young sister of the groom was flower- girl dressed identically to the maid of honor. She carried a miniature bouquet. Ray Stallaert of Chatham was best man and his attendants were Daniel Raes, Chatham, Keith Lapp Auburn, James Reid, Belmont, Kenneth Wood, Scarborough and Donald Toulouse of Tupperville. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Auburn Community Hall where the bride's mother welcomed the guests in a crepe de chine dress and lace coat in a delicate pink shade. She was assisted by the groom's mother wearing a dress of heavenly blue brocade with pearl trimmed neckline. Both wore corsages or roses and stephanotis, Mrs. Lapp red roses and Mrs. Denys yellow roses. The head table was decorated with a beautiful cake, multi- colored centre piece and pink candles. A dance followed in Saltford Hall. The bride donned a white pant suit with red and blue trim and wore a red corsage for her wedding trip. On their return they will reside at R.R. 2, Kippen. Guests were present from Montreal, Sudbury, Rochester, N.Y. Wallaceburg, Chatham, Blenheim, Belmont and St. Thomas. with Miss Connie Trommer. Mr. Gerrit Klaas is improving in Victoria hospital London but is still in special care there. Miss Nancy Anderson is visiting relatives in Edmonton, Alberta, Friends in this community of Mrs. Alice Jeffreys, the former Alice Rogerson are pleased to learn that she is improving in Victoria hospital, London, Miss Gail Miller of Toronto spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Miller. Susan M. Graves of Goderich, daughter of Robert Charles Graves, Thunder Bay, and Jacob George Doucette of Clinton, son of Carl LeRoy Doucette, Clinton were wed at St. George's Anglican Church, "Goderich on July 8. Reverend G.G. Russell conducted the double-ring ceremony. Music was played by Paul Baker of London. The processional was "Purcell's Trumpet Tune." The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor- length A-line gown of silk organza over taffeta. It had a sweetheart neckline, and long fitted sleeves trimmed with organza ruffles. Her long sleeveless coat ended in a chapel train edged with lace and she wore a full-length veil held in place by a rose headpiece, edged with matching lace. She carried roses and carnations and baby's breath in the shape of a cross. Matron of honor, Sandra Lynne McNutt of Elmvale, wore a dress of light blue crepe with a satin look to it. To touch it off, there was a beaded binding around the neckline and empire waistline. Her flowers were five small carnations tinted blue and small blue baby's breath, all tied with blue ribbon. The bridesmaids, Cynthia Anne Beyer of Mount Forest, and June Saldivar of Seaforth, wore dresses similar to the maid ,of honor's. They all wore cameo Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rathwell of Chatham spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Gordon Taylor and their son Michael Rathwell. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Mustard, Jodi and Jeanni visited last Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Warner Andrews. Miss Connie Hickey of London spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hickey and family. The greatest show on wood... Varathane: earrings and matching necklaces, Edmund Saldivar of Seaforth was the groomsman. Ushers were Harvey J. Beyer of Mount Forest, and William Harburn of Seaforth. The reception was held at St. George's Anglican Church Hall. Decorations were shasta daisies and four sets of yellow candles. The mother of the bride wore a dress of light beige delicate print, matching coat, a broad- trimmed hat and a yellow rose bud corsage. The groom's mother wore a floor-length gown in green with a lace empire waistline, a round ring hat and a corsage of burnt orange rosebuds. The bride's travelling costume was a light beige pantsuit with collar and pockets. Dark brown and white sandals and a gardenia corsage set off the ensemble. The wedding trip was to Manitoulin Island. The couple will reside at 56A Square, Apt. 102, Goderich. Two showers were held in Goderich by the first Goderich Guide Co. Guides and Brownie leaders also met in Goderich. There was a shower in London, given by the bride's grandmothers, with their friends attending. A shower in Clinton was hosted by June Saldivar and Marj Collins at the home of the bride's inlaws. Mrs. Sam Squire of Brampton and Mrs. Lorne Peter of Bervie. Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Schmidt, Tracey and ' Brenton of Burlington spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mills.
