bridal shower for Miss Chris.
Finkbeiner of London last
Saturday evening at the home of
Mrs. Harry Arthur and her
daughter Miss Judy Arthur. Miss
Finkbeiner is to be the bride of
John MacKay, son of Mr. and, Mrs.
Duncan MacKay.
Mrs, A.rthur and daughter Miss
Judy welcomedthe guests and the
guest of honour and her sister
Miss Maureen Finkbeiner of
Thornton was introduced to the
friends. Miss Judy read an
address of congratulations and
gifts were presented, She was
presented with a beautiful rose
corsage, and her sister Maureen
and also Mrs, Duncan MacKay.
Miss Finkbeiner thanked her
friends for the gifts and lunch was
served.
William Rueger and daughter
Miss Carol of RR 2, Clinton spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Cartwright and family. Master
David and Miss Lorie returned
with them for a holiday.
Rev, and Mrs. Patrick Ferrier
of Welland visited last week with
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips.
Trousseau tea held
A trousseau tea was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Lapp
on Saturday July 15th in honour of
their daughter, Nancy Jean who is
to be married to Walter Edward
Denys of Kippen on July 22.
Receiving guests with Mrs.
Lapp and the bride-elect was Mrs.
Eli Denys, mother of the groom-'
to-be. Ladies pouring tea were
Mrs. F.J. Lapp of St. Thomas and
Miss Margaret Jackson of Blyth.
The table was centered with an
arrangement of roses and
delphinium and arrangements of
pink and white roses were
throughout the house, Miss
Brenda Ball, Mrs. W. Vanstone,
Miss Dianne Denys and Miss
Brenda Archambault displayed
trousseau, wedding and shower
gifts during the afternoon and
evening. The Walkerburn Club
catered to the lunch with Mrs, Roy

left on Sunday, for their home in
North Bay after a couple of weeks

are on a trip to their native

Mrs. Roy Finnigan of Goderich on
the death of her mother Mrs,
Laura Fowler a former resident
of Auburn.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas flaggitt
and Mr, and Mrs. William Ridden
of Manitou, Manitoba visited
recently with Mr. and Mrs.
Beverley French in Detroit.
Mr. Robert Chamney is a
patient in Goderich hospital, we
wish him a speedy recovery.
Mrs. Mary Johnston of
Goderich is visiting with her
brother, Mr. Frank Raithby and
Mrs. Raithby.
Mrs. Wanda Barnette and Mrs.
Marie Bolstead of Kissimmee,
Florida visited for ten days with
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Davies.
Mrs. Charles Scott spent the
weekend at her home
accompanied by Mrs. Woon and
Miss Datema.
Mrs. Robert Arthur, Miss
Jayne Arthur and Mrs, Jessie
Naylor spent last week at the
former's cottage near North Bay.
Mrs. Gordon Gross and
daughter Anita Bernice returned
home from Clinton hospital last
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. James Glousher
and family are holidaying at Point
Farms Provincial park.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jardin of
Wingham visited last Saturday
with her parents Mr. and Mrs.
William Straughan.
Pastor Alfred Fry will show his
colored slides and, spealkaan
trip ,;,to England "at the July 3
meeting of the Auburn
Horticultural Society to be held at
8:30in the Community Memorial
hall.
All members are asked to bring
flower arrangements for display
and the roll call is to be answered
by naming your best flower
blooming at that time.
The program is to be in charge
of Mrs. Elmer Trommer and
Mrs. Thomas Haggitt, The pot
luck lunch will be served by Mrs.
Donald Haines, Mrs. Robert
Slater, Mrs. William Clark and
Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock. There
will also be door prizes.

Obituary
MRS, BERT CRAIG
Funeral services were held at
the J, Keith Arthur Funeral Home
on Tuesday July 18 for Mrs. Bert
Craig,
She was the former Christena
Janet McNall, the daughter of the
late George McNall and Janet
Wilson of Blyth, She passed away
in Clinton hospital in her 67 year.
She was P.M. Regal Chapter
0,E.S. Blyth, past president of the
Auburn Women's Institute and
past president of the
Horticultural Society and at the
time of her death she was a
convener of the District of Huron
West of the Women's Institute.
She was predeceased by her
husband Robert (Bert) Craig in
1967. She had resided at Detroit,
Grand Bend and Auburn, She was a
member of Knox United Church.
She is survived by one daughter,
Mrs, Leonard Archambault of
Hullett Township and four
grandchildren, and one brother,
Samuel of Goderich.
Pastor Alfred Fry conducted
the services with burial in Blyth
Union cemetery, Pallbearers
were Chester McNeil, Donald
McNall, Brian McNall, Elgin
McNeil, Douglas McNall, and
Bradley Craig. Flowerbearers
were the four grandchildren,
Douglas, Brenda, Rick and
Marilyn Archambault. Friends
and relatives were present from
Sarnia, Grand Bend, St. Marys,
Welland and Windsor.

of furniture, antiques, etc., was
held last Saturday the arena

Chtirch by the Rathwell's Auction
Service also a bake sale and
rummage sale by the ladies of the
Church was held in the Orange
Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred McClymont
spent last week in the Georgian
Bay area.
Mr. Larry McIntyre of London
called on friends here last
Saturday.

white shasta daisies decorated
the Londesboro United Church
when William Allen Vincent of
Londesboro and Lorna May
McDougall of RR 1, Auburn
exchanged wedding vows on July
8, at 3:30 P.M.
The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Clare Vincent of
Londesboro and the bride is the
youngest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Norman McDougall, RR 1,
Auburn. Rev. Stanley McDonald
officiated and the church
organist, Mrs. Harry Lear played
traditional wedding music.
Given in marriage by her father
the bride looked lovely in a floor-
length gown of white peau de sole,
empire waisted, chantilly lace
bodice, scalloped neckline,' long
chantilly lace lily-point sleeves.
The scalloped lace train fell from
the empire waisted A-line skirt.
The bottom of the dress was
edged with lace. Her four tiered
veil of nylon and silk illusion with
scalloped edges was held in place
by a crest of white blossoms. She
carried a bouquet of pink and
white sweetheart roses with white
stephanotis, trailing ivy and long
white ribbon.
Mrs. Alan Caldwell, of Auburn,
sister of the bride, was matron of
honour, She wore a floor-length
empire-waisted dress of sheer
pink butterfly over polyester
crepe, featuring scooped neckline
and long sheer sleeves with long
cuffs. Tiny pink rose buds were
worn in her hair. She carried a
nosegay of white shasta daisies
with green fern and long pink
ribbon.
The bridesmaids, Miss Marie
Plunkett of Auburn. friend of the
bride, and Miss Elaine Vincent of
Kitchener, sister of the groom,
wore dresses identical to the
matron of honour and carried
identical nosegays with tiny
rosebuds in their hair,
Alan Caldwell of Auburn,
brother-in-law of the bride was
groomsman and the ushers were
Jim McDougall of Goderich,
cousin of the bride and Joe
Heffron of Stratford, friend of the
groom.
Following the ceremony a
dinner was Served at the Elm
Haven Motor Hotel, Clinton where
the bride's mother received the
guests wearing a pink floral dress
with a corsage of white carnations
and white accessories,. Site was
assisted by the groom's mother

The summer is slipping by and
weather has been ideal the past
three weeks for the raspberries
as well as the holidayers. Every
year it seems someone travels to
some distant place. This summer
two people from this area have
flown across the big blue Atlantic
to see the country in that part of
the world. Elizabeth Thompson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.E.
Thompson arrived in Tournon,
France and has started to work.
Irvine Tebbutt returned in the wee
hours Tuesday morning from his
two-week tour of England, Ireland.
and Scotland,
Gerry and Shirley Tebbutt,
Gregory and Wendy of St.
Catharines spent the past two
weeks with Mrs. Edith Tebbutt
while Irvine was away.
Peter and Jamie Thompson and
Tony, David and Timmy Bird
attended hockey school at
Centralia last week.
Kerry Willows of Windsor
visited with Gary Tebbutt last
week.
Mr. and Mrs, -Jim Commerford
and daughters of Halifax spent a
week visiting with Don and
Marilyn Forbes and faintly.
Congratulations to Mr, and
Mrs. Robert French, nee Marilyn
Tebbutt,, of Mitchell, the proud
parents of twins, a girl, Lori
Marilyeand a boy, David Robert,
born July 14, 1972.

toNashville, Tennessee over the
past weekend to See the Grand Ole
Oprey.

tiered wedding cake trimmed with
pink roses adorned the head table
and was flanked with pink candles.
For a wedding trip to parts of
Northern Ontario, Collingwood,
Midland and Bracebridge, the
bride left wearing a yellow dress
with white trim and white
accessories. The couple will
reside in Goderich.
Guests at the wedding were
present from Auburn,
Londesboro, Blyth, Goderich,
Stratford, Belgrave, Kitchener,
Toronto and Mount Forest.

The Londesboro United
Church held their morning wor-
ship in Seaforth Lions Park on
last Sunday with a large atten-
dance.
Rev, McDonald conducted the
service, Bob Stoner was song
leader and Ken Scott .and
Elaine. Nixon led the music.
Rev, Mervyn Penfound of
Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, son
of Mrs. Wilfred Penfound was
guest speaker.
Following the service, a
smorgasbord dinner was held
with table committee looked af-
ter by Mrs. G. Gourley, Mrs.
Nelson McClure, Mrs. John
Thompson and Mrs. Margaret
Whyte. Following dinner, there
were games and races, Those in
charge were kindergarten, Mrs.
Dennis Penfound; primary girls,
Mrs. John Lyons and Mrs. Tillie
Westerhout; primary boys,
Murray Honking and Stewart
Glousher; intermediate girls,
Miss Edythe Beacom and Mrs,
Murray Lyon; intermediate
boys, Nick Whyte; and adults,
Mr, McDonald.
Rev. McDonald thanked all
for their attendance and co-
operation and closed with the
Benediction. A large number of
younger folk enjoyed the
bathing facilities before retur-
ning home. All reported a good
time,

Miss Brenda Langille called
on friends in the village on
Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Harry Sewers of
Teeswater is spending a few
days this week with his son, Mr,
and Mrs. Mac Sewers and
family.
Mrs. Ross Matson and
children of Woodstock spent the
weekend with her parents, Mr,
and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook and
attended the church picnic in
Seaforth. Sheryl remained for
the week.
Mr. and Mrs, Mac Sewers and
family returned home last week
from a two-week vacation atten-
ding the Calgary Stampede and
a sight-seeing tour through the
mountains.
Rev. and Mrs. Mervyn Pen-
found and children returned to
their home in Shellbrook,
Saskatchewan, having spent the
past two weeks with his mother,
Mrs. Wilfred Penfound and
Elgin and her parents, Mr, and
Mrs. George Potter, Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Duizer,
Laurel, Lisa and Stephen atten-
ded the Stratford General
Hospital class of 1964 picnic
Sunday afternoon at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson,
