George Kalanzis, of Bayfield, appears to be somewhat apprehensive about riding a donkey
while a young man tries to coax the stubborn animal to move. The scene took place
recently in Bayfield at the Donkey Baseball game between the Bayfield Lions and the
Varna Astros.

With the schedule half over, the
Clinton Colts record is a
commendable nine wins and,,one
loss. After dropping the opening
game of the schedule to the
Walkerton Angels, the Colts have
rattled off nine straight victories.
Because the Angels have won ten
straight, this leaves the Colts in
second place, one game behind the
Angels. The Colts still have three
games ,left to play against
Walkerton. Their next meeting
will be this Sunday at 5 p.m. at
Walkerton.
On Wednesday, July 4, Stu
Mustard fired a four hitter in

season. The final score of the
game was 10-2. Stu struck out 13
batters. Butch Fleet led the Colts
at the plate in this game by
collecting three hits in raising his
batting average to .371 for the
season. His three hits consisted
of a double and two singles, Two
other players collected two hits
each. Don Bartliff with a double
and a single, and brother Paul

Back in Clinton last Saturday
evening the Colts came from
behind an early 3-0 Exeter lead
to register a 9-5 win. Again it
was Stu Mustard picking up the
pitching verdict, running his
record to 4-0. Stu, getting off to a
very shaky start, settled down
after the third inning. He struck
out 13 Exeter batters and walked
only one. His team mates backed
him up with ten hits. Bob
Livermore, Laurie Colquhoun,
and Brad Dutot led the hitting
attack for Clinton in this game.
Laurie had two doubles, Brad, a
triple and double and Bob a double
and single. Other hitters in the
game were Butch Fleet, a single,
Larry Pickett, a single, and Doc
Miller with two singles.

BY RICK ELLIS,
RECREATIONAL CO-
ORDINATOR
What does your child do all day?
Is his-her ability to do activities
fully brought out? A child now
adays has all kinds of chances to
improve his co-ordination. A
summer playground is one way in
which he may do so. The
playground introduces new
activities which builds up his
interest along with his co-
ordination.
In last Mondays (July 10)
edition of the London Free Press
it was expressed about the
increase of petty thiefs in Clinton.
This is another reason why your
child should go to a playground
while he-she is young. A
playground may prevent your
child from spending time in jail.
Someparents will say that his or
her child would never do a thing
like that, but how can you predict
the future of your child.
Another way to look at a
playground is from the mothers
point of view. It is a cheap
babysitter for the summer.
Mother can get her housework
done much faster since the
children are not around, and then
she can watch T,V. in the
afternoon with peace and quiet.
The Clinton Recreation
Committee is sponsoring a
summer playground which runs
Monday to Friday 9:30 - 11:30 and
1 - 4. If you wish information on
this; phone 482-7731. Please
consider the points I have just
pointed out and think of what you
will be doing to your child's
future.
Wear a government-
approved LIFE-
JACKET when water
skiing. Have a lookout
man in your tow-boat.
