An excellent financial statement was read by Mrs. V. Lampman. Roll call was answered by 19 members naming where they would like to spend their summer holidays. We had two visitors present who later joined the club. Mrs. G. Glazier reported for the cards and flowers committee. We have several members sick at present. There had been 35 hospital and'14 home visits made the past month. Holmesville School has busy week BY MILLIE LOBB Holmesville Public School was a busy place this past week with the Appreciation Night. on Tuesday, and on Thursday morning the presentation of Awards and Certificates. On Tuesday evening. June 27th. the parents. former students, former and present teachers gathered at the Goderich Township School to honor the principal John Siertsema. A number of former students presented a humorous skit (To Serts--With f Love) about a day in Final arrangements were made for the annual bus trip to picnic in Springbank Park on Saturday, August 19, Mrs. F. Cummings to look after all arrangements. I,D,itch Auction winners, were '•Mrs , T. Leppington, Mrs. C Cunningham, Mrs. H. Managhan and Mrs. M. Nivens. The mystery prize was won by Mrs. R. Coiclough. Mrs. E. Kendall entertained with two readings. Bingo was played with all members receiving from one to three prizes. A few sports were enjoyed by most present. A smorgasbord' uncheon was enjoyed by all before departing for home. The next meeting will be held at Mrs. L. Lockhart's on Thursday afternoon, September 7 at 2 p.m. class when John was their teacher. Gerry Lobb played the part of Mr. Siertsema; Eleanor Lobb was the French teacher. Marlene Yeo, Susan Lobb, Tony Bird, Paul Middleton, Marion Thompson, Carol Weber, Brenda Forbes, Connie Forbes, and Ivan Merrill were the pupils. Everyone who took part did a wonderful job but the parents hoped that their children didn't act like this when they were in school. Following an hour of cards the winners were: High Lady, Barb Betties, High Man; Jamie Thompson, Low Lady; Doris Schilbe, Low Man Ray Potter, Lone Hands; Helen Westbrook and Bill Elliott. Everett Mclllwain who acting as chairman, spoke briefly before asking Mr. and Mrs. Siertsema to Come to the stage where Mrs. Penhale and Mrs. Don Middleton presented them with a corsage and bouttoniere. Following the address read by Mrs. Bill Lobb, the couple were presented with a clock, a gift of money by Alison Lobb and Pat Wise, and also a guest book which was signed by those present. Mr. Siertsema expressed his appreciation. On Thursday evening the grade 8 graduates and their parents gathered at the school for a barbecue., games of volleyball and cards and dancing for the younger generation. The sessions will be held this year in the afternoons from 1:30 to 4:00, The members of L.O.L. 1035 and their families will celebrate the 12th on Saturday July 8th in Goderich. Flow,ers in the United Church last Sunday were placed by Mr. and Mrs. George Dowson and Mr. and Mrs. Orval Webber in memory of the late Gary Dowson and Fred Webber. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be administered in the United Church next Sunday July 9th with Rev. Bruce Guy of Dashwood in charge. Middleton Mrs. St. Jacques and Mr. Alan Sundstrom of Sault Ste. Marie were weekend guests at the home of their brother-in-law and sister, Mr, and Mrs. J. Ross Middleton. Mrs. John Middleton Jr. and three children of Saskatoon were present for the St. James memorial dedication and have been visiting numerous relatives.
