It may not be possible to find adopting parents for this handsome youngster before his birthday, but it Will be wonderful if he can be settled in a permanent home in time to start kindergarten in September. • Tall and slim, Terry has curly, light brown hair, big blue eyes and olive skin, Ills background is black (West Indian) and white. Terry is in excellent health but he has met most of his milestones later than average. Ills speech is not yet up to his age level, which is frustrating both for Terry and for people who are trying to understand him. This active boy loves to play outdoors, especially riding his tricycle. Ile enjoys the company of other children, though he sometimes finds it hard to share toys. Ile is always concerned about his own possessions - a new pair of shoes has to go to bed with him so he will be certain they will be there in the morning. Dere is a kiddie who needs a loving, understanding family where both parents will want to spend a lot of time with him. They should be able to overlook limited information on his background, and to accept the fact that he will probably be a slow learner. There should be no other children close to him in age. To inquire about adopting Terry, please write to Today's Child, Box 888, Station K, Toronto. For general adoption in- formation, write your Children's Aid Society. Mr. and Mrs. Theo Flynn of Clinton are pleased to announce the graduation of their daughter. Linda Anne, from Owen Sound Regional School of Nursing on June 17th, Linda has been accepted for a position on the staff at the Owen Sound General and Marine Hospital, After all the fuss I made about my birthday being forgotten in March, it was little wonder that my family went all out on Mother's Day in May. Mother's Day isn't considered very important by a great many people who hate commercialism and it is absolutely true that in a great many instances, mothers are only nemembered to keep peace in the family, Normally, my family isn't too hung up on Mother's Day either. It is most often just a card and a simple little remembrance for me on Mother's Day....but that doesn't really matter. It is the thought that counts after all. This Mother's Day, however, I was Queen for a Day and the nicest, most thoughtful gift in the whole world waited for me in my kitchen. You guessed it. A fully automatic, totally dependable dishwasher. I guess I've wanted a dishwasher for as long as I've been washing dishes. But like every dutiful wife who knows her husband can't afford all the luxuries of life, I've put the idea of a dishwasher in the very back of my mind. I used to make those cute little remarks you usually hear connected with dishwashers....like...."My children do the dishes now. It is „good for them to have something O do"....and...,"It is almost as much work to get the dishes ready toput into the dishwasher as it is to wash them. I can't really see the sense in a dishwasher" and "I like to get right up from the table and get the dishes done. I wouldn't like to see them sitting around in a dishwasher until I had a full load". Club meet programme will be looked after by Sue Vodden, Hazel Watkins and Alice Westerhout. Margaret Ball read the new slate of officers for the next two years-President-Isabel Stewart, 1st Vice Pres. Phyliss Tyndall, 2nd Vice Pres.-Donna Gibbings, Secretary-Sandra Westerhout, Treasurer-Sue Vodden. Buying Committee is Jean and Sue Vodden and Marianne Colelough. Cards-Hazel Watkins, Quilts-Vera Gibbings and Phyliss Tyndall. Music- Barbara Lovett and Lorna Ellis, Vera Gibbings won the Raffle, Donna Gibbings was the winner of a guessing contest by Isabel Stewart-Phyliss Tyndall gave a reading "Words to Warm the Heart," Sandra Westerhout was the winner of a guessing contest by Jean Vodden. Tom Leiper and Mrs. Alice Green, Mrs. Dodds reported that the Screening Committee had arranged and carried out 2,525 lung function tests in the area since last meeting, The tests have been coincidental with the chest X- ray industrial survey and 98 per cent of the industries have been cooperative and extremely interested in this community service, Mr. 'Leiper said the Rehabilitation and Patient Services Committee had been active with financial assistance for respiratory drugs given several persons in the area. He also reported that Breathing Improvement Classes would close for the months of July and August but would reconvene in September. Miss Dunsmore reported that Christmas Seal Supplies had been arriving daily BY SHIRLEY .1 K El LER Well, I am now the proud owner of a dishwasher, and I can tell you ladies a dishwasher is absolutely wonderful. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I fooled myself for a long time into thinking my children did most of the dishes at our house. Have you teenaged children in your household? Then you'll know how really ludicrous it is to expect them to be in charge of dishwashing. If your children are anything like my children, they are too busy for dishwashing and it is usually mom and dad who get roped into that little chore, Somehow, activities for teenagers all commence about '7 p.m. in the evening. That's dishwashing hour at the Keller house and there's not a chance that dishwashing will win out over track and field practice or band rehearsal. Experts in child psychology will tell you that children need to have dishwashing evpprience. They say that most of the conversation in the modern family takes place during the dishwashing hour and with the advent of the dishwasher, the last remaining bond between children and parents has been removed. That's hogwash. I find that while the dishwasher is working happily away in the kitchen, I can sit down with the children for a laSt few minutes before they dash madly out of the house and have a relaxed conversation that isn't punctuated by the scraping of burned-on spaghetti. And that's the hangup with my dishwasher, Believe it or not, I find it difficult to select an hour to wash my dishes when somebody is in the house to guard the dishwasher. That may sound strange to you if you reside in a household where mother and father work from 8 to 5.... or from 9 to 4....or whatever. But at our abode, my husband and I are often on the go from sunrise to sunset.„.and longer. With the kids busy too, who's to mind the dishwasher? My family think I'm unduly alarmed about leaving the dishwasher alone to wash, rinse and dry on its own. They say I should trust this mechanical wonder to perform that work without a hitch....but I say a machine is only a machine and needs to have someone hovering around just in case something goes wrong. So it is true. The technological age brings new problems. It must be a sign of the age. Not long ago, I had time to wash my dishes in the tried and proven time honored way. Now I haven't time in a day to attend my dishwasher, And you think you are busy! and that the Onatrio 197l statistics concerning the campaign were on hand. Mr. Forsyth mentioned that Memorial. Gifts bad been received more frequently of late and that all gifts -of this nature are forwarded to the Ontario T.horacic Society for research in emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma and cystic respiratory disease.
