Due to the miserable weather
conditions,. the annual Pepper
Reunion which was scheduled for
Seaforth Lions Park was held in
the Clinton Orange Hall Sunday
afternoon with 60 in attendance.
Sports Committee for this year,
Mr, and Mrs. Frank Falconer and
Mr. and Mrs, Bill Riehl very ably
conducted a full line of sports.

Passed away Saturday June
24th, 1972, James Richard Orr, of
183 Andrew Street, Exeter,
formerly of, Hensall, in his 35th
year. Dear son of Andy and Myrtle
attended the 45th wedding
anniversary celebrations of his
brother, Mr. Norman Allen and
Mrs, Alien last Friday evening.
Misses Jean Houston, Jean
Jamieson and Jean Wilson of
Toronto spent the week-end with
Mrs, William Clark.
Mr, and Mrs. Donald Haines
spent the weekend in Toronto.
Mr. Dave Millian, '87, of
western Canada called last
Wednesday on Mr. and Mrs.
Maitland Allen.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
McDougall spent the weekend in
London with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart
Toll, Terry and Warren.

on the staff at the Royal Bank in

Orr, Hensall. Beloved husband of
the former Mary Dixon; dear
father of Barbara and Kathryn at
home. Also surviving one
brother, Donald of Ottawa.
The body rested at the Bonthron
Funeral Chapel, Hensall, where
service was held on Tuesday June
27, 1972, with Rev. W. Ja.'vis
officiating, Interment in Exeter
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Melvin Orr
Jr., William Albright, John
Martene, Robert Bell, James
Hyde and Murray Finlayson.

Passed away in Minnesota on
Friday June 23, 1972, Simon
Kipfer, in his 84th year.
Surviving are six sons and two
daughters; 2 sisters Mrs. Nancy
Kyle, Hensall; and Mrs. Ella
DesJardine, Exeter. Burial was
in Minnesota.'

IN UNITED CHURCH
Children's Day Service was
held Sunday morning in Hensall
United Church, with children
from the Sunday School taking
part. Brenda Pepper and Chris
Beck read the first and second
lesson. Ushers were Chris
McGregor, Dwight Consit. Steven
Corbett and (Deanna Reaburn.
"Let Your Light Shine", was the
theme chosen by Rev. Don Beck
for the Children's sermon. A
,beautiful piano-organ duet, "What
a Friend We Have in Jesus". was
given with Mrs. Turkheim at the
organ console and Karen
McAllister at the piano. The
Choir rendered the anthem
"God's Child Am I."
WOMENS INSTITUT MEETING
The June meeting of the Hensall
Women's Institute was held at the
Hensall Hotel. After a delicious
supper, the meeting was opened
The Auburn Library will be
open on Friday afternoon, 2 p.m.
to 5 p.m. on June 30th owing to the
July 1st holiday.

Cartwright of Goodwood spent the
weekendwith his brother Donald
Cartwright, Mrs, Cartviright and
family.
The report of the District
Annual held recently at Wingliain
was given by Mrs. Gordon Taylor
and Mrs. Arnold Craig, Mrs.
Craig's report was given by Mrs.
Gordon Powell.
A piano solo was played by Mrs.
Richard Brooks. The collection
was taken by Mrs. Gordon Powell.
Mrs. Donald Cartwright gave
the report of Officer's conference
• held at Guelph. The door prize
was won by Mrs, Ed Davies and
the lucky cup winner was Mrs,
Legris.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Frank Raithby, Mrs. Ralph Munro
and Mrs. John Stadelmann.

were in London on Sunday. They
will appear on "Act Fast" in the

Mrs. Wm. Clark has moved into
the'house of Mr. E. Sellery. We
welcome Mrs. Clark to

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pepper
spent Sunday with their son .Mr.
Bert Pepper and family in
Neustadt.
Twenty-eight relatives
gathered at the home of Mrs. Fred
Boyce for a buffet dinner. They
were honouring Mrs. Boyce's
brother and his wife, Mr. and
Mrs, Harry Snell, on the occasion
of their 25 wedding anniversary,
Mrs. Snell was the former
Hattie McCall, youngest daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Win.
McCall, Walton. Harry is the
elder son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
William Snell, Londesboro. They
have two children, Heather of
Stratford and Harris, graduate of
the C.H.S.S,
Mr. Grant Snail was master of
ceremonies and a gift of silver
'was presented to the bride and
groom of 25 years. Friends were
present from Windsor, London,
Dashwood, Clinton, Auburn,
Londesboro and California,

The Airnwell unit of the UCW
held their meeting Monday
evening, June 19, at the home of
Elma Jewitt. The president, Ruth
Vincent, opened the meeting with
a reading followed by a devotional
period, Roll call was answered by
20 members and three guests.
Gail Lear thanked all who had
helped with her recital, The
committee to plan the supper
picnic for August will be Marjorie
Duizer, Mary Peel and Betty
Hulley, The September meeting is
to be the third Monday. A report
on the ham supper was given and
Margaret Whyte reported on
Margie's progress with
Crossroads. Florence
Cartwright and Joan Whyte are to
make a new Junior Congregation
list. Margaret Whyte reminded
everyone of the general meeting
and of the meeting at Alma
College August 20 to 23,
Mary Peel was in charge of the
program. After a hymn, a film
"The Garth Leggee Reports on
Africa" was shown. Mary
directed an opinion poll on
articles from the last
"Observer". The meeting closed
with a hymn and benediction.
Lunch was then served by Helen
Lawson and Elma Jewitt.

Wednesday, June 21 at the home of
Colleen Howatt for Lorna
McDougall,. bride-elect, when
neighbours and former
;neighbours presented her with
gifts and gocd wishes, Contests
were conducted by Marjorie
Duizer and Pat flunking, the
winners being Ena Howatt. Ruth
Vincent and Lorna McDougall.
Pat Flunking read "Flow To Select
a Husband" and an address to
Lorna and gifts were presented by
Cheryl Lyon, Marilyn
Archambault, Linda and Debbie
Cunningham, Lorna thanked
everyone, particularly Colleen
Howatt and Pat Flunking and
invited all to visither,in her new
home in Goderich. Lunch was
served by Colleen Howatt, Pat
Flunking and Marjorie Duizer.

Family night and cub
, graduation ceremony was held in
the church hall, on, June 22, with
more than one hundred parents
and families of the Cubs and
ScoutS attending. Plans had been
made to have outdoor sports but
due to poor weather, a recreation
evening was held indoors, The
recreation was conducted by the
leaders, with games and fun for
all ages.
Mr. McDonald, as cubmager,
welcomed everyone and
presented cub Wayne Hulley with
his swimmer's badge. The
advancements ceremony was
conducted by the cubmaster and
the leaders Larry Lovett, Murray
flunking, Bob Watkins and Stewart
Glousher and the boys were
received into the scout troop by
the scoutmaster, Ian Hulley.

and Larry Jewitt. The boys
graduating into scouts were
Wayne Halley, Calvin Lovett.
Earl Johnston, Brian McClure.
Mike Overholt and Ken Popp. Two
boys also advancing to scouts but

committee under the direction of
the chairman, Jack Lee, served
refreshments.

Pastor Fry of Auburn was guest
minister at the Sunday morning
service with Rev. McDonald
taking the services at Auburn and
Donnybrook. Don Buchanan
greeted worshippers at the door
and ushers were David Lear,
Darrell Shobbrook, Kevin and
Wayne Hulley. Pastor Fry's text
was "Unless" and the choir sang.
"This is My Task."

Agriculture took a bus trip to
Rockton to visit the African Safari
Farm on June 23. On the' return
home a stop was made at
Kitchener City Hall which is to be
removed within the next few
years. This is the site of the new

anniversary of Mr, and Mrs.
Charles Weymouth (the former
Irene Longman). Their family
entertained them with a surprise
party at Sebringville Hall, About
fifty relatives and friends were in
attendance.

and Mr. Will Govier attended the
46th memorial service at Ball's
Cemetery on Sunday, June 25,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McDonald
of Senlac, Saskatchewan, visited
on Thursday morning with their
nephew, Rev, McDonald at the
manse.

citizens, On Thursday members
of Londesboro W,I. were in

birthday and anniversary service

Church, honouring Rev. J. Ure
Stewart, a well-known minister of
this district who celebrated his
90th birthday and 65th
Anniversary of his ordination.
Rev. McDonald attended the
wedding and reception of Miss
Brenda East and Dr. Bruce Elliott
in Auburn on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cowan and
Gregory spent the weekend with
his mother, Mrs. G. Cowan.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shaddick
spent the weekend with their son,
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Shaddick of Glen Morris and
attended the baptism of their
grandson, Richard Lewis.
The Women's Institute July
meeting will be held on July 5 at 8
p.m. (a change of'date) when they
will entertain the grandmothers
and the Cheerio Club, guests are
to bring a keepsake',

on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim

returned home on Tuesday, June
20 from a 10-day vacation at
Matachewan. Ontario.

weekend with his parents. Mr. and
Mrs. Allen Shaddick.

Brian, Kenneth and Sandra of
Ridgetown spent the weekend with
her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Tom

celebrated their tenth wedding
anniversary with a family
gathering.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Howatt and
girls of Stratford- visited his
mother, Mrs. Ena, Howatt on
Sunday,
Mrs, Jim McEwan and her
sister, Mrs. Archie Watt of
Goderich returned home on
Thursday, June 22 from a trip to
Scotland and Wales. They spent
twenty-two days visiting relatives
and friends and had a trip to
France by Hovercraft, Both
report an enjoyable time, It is 24
years since they were in England.
Karen Johnston who spent t
Sunday night in Seaforth Hospital,
requiring some forty stitches
from a dog's bite, returned borne
on Monday.
Mrs. Ena Howatt spent a few
days last week with her daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Mac Hadgert and
family of Kirkton.
