Obituary'
MRS. OTTO WEBER
Funeral service was held on
Monday, June 5 at the Arthur
Funeral Home, Auburn, for Mrs.
Otto Weber who liaised away in
Wingham Hospital on June 2.
Born in Germany she was the
former Gertrude Koch. She came
to Canada in 1965 and resided in
London. She lived in the
Donnybrook community and is
survived by her husband and two
sons, Hans of Munich, Germany
and Wolfgang at home.
Rev. Stanley McDonald of
Londesboro conducted the funeral
service with burial in Balls'
cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sam
Thompson, John Thompson, Wes
Jefferson, Keith Hardy, Stuart
Chamney and John Hildebrand.
Relatives and friends attended
the funeral from Otterville and
London,
Brucefield.

The U.C.W. of Brucefield
United Church held their annual
visitor's day on Tuesday, June 6,
with a record attendance. Mrs. P.
Packman and Mrs. L. Wilson
welcomed the guests at the door.
Mrs. John Henderson and Mrs.•
J.A. McEwan conducted the
devotions. A trio composed of
Mrs. George Henderson, Mrs.
John Moffat and Mrs. Fred
McGregor sang, Mrs. McEwan
spoke on churches. She spoke of
the night the church was burned-
and of the kindness of the people of
the neighbouring churches, both
then and later, She also spoke of
the difficulties encountered by the
early Christians. of the ultimate
spread of the Gospel throughout
the world, and of the challenge
facing the present day church,
A pleasing duet was rendered
by Mrs. J. Moffat and Mrs. G,
Henderson accompanied by Mrs.
W. W. McGrath.

leader welcomed our visitors,

gave a musical interlude.
Fifteen ladies presented a skit
of an Old Fashioned church sevice
and were dressed in old time
costumes. Mr's. Don Adams and
Mrs. E. Stoll conducted the
church service. Mrs. Stoll
preaching the sermon. Musical
numbers were given by Mrs. J.
Moffat, Mrs, Jack McGregor and
Mrs. Fred McGregor.
Rev. Mr. Packman closed the
meeting with the benediction,
after which lunch was served.

Ontario Street United Church.
Clinton was the setting for a very
quiet, but pretty wedding on
Saturday, June 3, 1972 at 4:00
p.m. when Rey. Lawrence Lewis,
assisted by the Rev. George
Youmatoff of Trinity Anglican
Church. Hayfield, officiated at the
marriage of Fern H. Coleman of
Clinton - to Harry F. Baker of
Hayfield,
Matron of honour was the
groom's twin sister, Mrs. L, W.
Scotchmer of Bayfield; Mr.
Gordon Coleman, Walkerton.
eldest son of the bride was
groomsman.
Present at the wedding were
immediate members of the
families: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Coleman, Walkerton: Mr. and
Mrs. George Coleman,
Wil lowdnle: Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Coleman, 12,13.1 Zurich, all sons
of the bride; Mrs, Donald
Robinson, Calgary. Alberta: Mr.
' and Mrs. Douglas Long, Guelph:
Dr. and Mrs. Moore Hislop. Port
Huron, Michigan: Mr. and Mrs.
Chris Klaudi, Princeton; four
daughters of the groom. Sixteen
grandchildren of the bride and
groom also attended.
Following the ceremony a
wedding dinner was served at the
Candlelight Inn, Goderich with
Mr. Douglas Long as master of
ceremonies.
Later in the evening Mr, and
Mrs, Baker were happily speeded
on their way to Bermuda with the
best Wishes of all their children
and grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Baker will take up
residence in Hayfield.

Saturday evening when Miss
Brenda East was the g ?st of
honour at a bridal shower,
Receiving the guests were Miss
Gail Miller of Toronto.
Mrs, Bert Daer was chairman
and welcomed everyone. A piano
solo was played by Mrs, Sidney
McClinchey. An "Age" contest
was conducted * Mrs, Lloyd
McClinchey, The winner was
Mrs. Gordon Gross.
A reading was given by Mrs.
Wilfred Plunkett, A variety of
songs was sung by Miss Lorraine
Chaniney accompanied by Mrs.
Fred Lawrence. The songs were
acted by Mrs. Harold McClinchey
and Mrs. Wayne Million as they
sat in a make-believe jeep on the
platform,
An orchestra with kitchen
equipment played by constumed
girls led by Sherry Plaetzer in
amusing dress' supplied music.
Those taking the parts were
Doreen McClinchey, Wanda
Plaetzer, Shelley Grange, Carol
Gross, Karen McClinchey and
Yvonne Bean.
A floral bridal contest was
conducted by Mrs. Lawrence
Plaetzer. The winner was Mrs.
Ross Daer,
Miss Nancy Anderson pinned a
corsage on the bride-elect' and
Miss Betty Moss of Stratford
pinned a corsage on Miss Karen
East, sister of the bride-elect.
They were escorted to the seats in
the jeep on the platform,
An address of congratulations
was read by Mr. Fred Lawrence
and gifts were presented by
Shelley Grange, Doreen
McClinchey and Betty Moss. A
ribbon hat was made by Doreen
McClinchey and tied on Brenda's
head. She thanked her friends for
the lovely gifts and invited all to
visit them in their new home in
Guelph.

visited last weekend with her
sister, Miss Jean Hamilton at
Oshawa.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton
Robertson of Copper Cliff visited
over the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. William

Peter Bishop visited in Toronto
with friends over the weekend.
Pastor and Mrs. Alfred Fry
arrived home last Monday after
an enjoyable month's visit in
England.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haines
visited on Sunday with their
daughter, Mrs. Ronald
Livermore, Mr. Livermore and
Robert at Fordwich.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Arthur of
Toronto spent the weekend with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith
Arthur.
Mr, and Mrs. Kenneth
McDougall visited last week with
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cope. Sheila
and Carol of London.
Friends are pleased to know
that Mrs. Sidney Laning was able
to come home last Tuesday from
Clinton Public Hospital where she
has been hbspitalized before and
following surgery.
The June meeting of the Auburn
Women's Institute will be held on
The Afternoon Unit of Ontario
Street U.C.W. held a short
business meeting on Tuesday,
June 6 in the church parlor.
The roll, call showed that 50
hospital and 24 home calls had
been made during May.
After several announcements
of summer activities, the Unit left
for Brucefield United Church
where we joined the U,C,W, of
seven other churches. Mrs.
Jack Henderson of Brucefield
U.C.W, presided over the
devotional period. Mrs, John A.
McFwen brought a very
The June meeting of the Huron
County Medical Secretaries was
held at the Seaforth Medical
Center, Wednesday evening, June
7. Mrs, Kay Hodgkinson, District
representative was going to give a
resume of the Convention held in
Toronto in May, but she was ill
and unable to attend.
Guests for this meeting were
two members from the OHIP
Regional branch, in London,
namely Mr, D. McKenzie and
Mrs. Pat Rogers. Mr. McKenzie
gave us a very interesting and
informative talk about the
processing of our medical
claims, and all felt they had
kindred spirits down in London,
after listening to the troubles they
encounter, and their efforts to
solve them. From his
explanations, the group felt they
could solve their problems as
they occur, and as time goes on,
they will be advised who to contact
at the Regional Office in regards
to particular Doctors claims.
Each Doctor is included in a
special unit, and each unit has a
leader and secretaries will be
able to thrash out our problems
with that particular leader. After
a very interesting talk, he threw
the meeting open for questions,
Forty residents from
Huronview attended the Clinton
Spring,E,air,en Saturday afternoon
and appreciated the fine gesture
of the board in giving them a free
pass for the day.

along with the regular musicians.
Mary Taylor and Norman Speir,
supplied the music for the Monday
get together. Mrs. Dale of Clinton
and the regular volunteer group
from Goderich, as well as the
Homemakers Class helped with
wheelchairs and joined up with the
program, Mrs. Gertrude
Kaitting, one of the regular
volunteer's from Goderich. led the
sing-song period.
The annual spring drive
sponsored by the men of Exeter
United Church took place on
Tuesday evening. Nineteen cars
driven by United Church men or
their wives took part with visits to
the Goderich-Bayfield area with a
brief stop at. Pinelake Camp.
where they were greeted by the
owners Bob and Shirley Elliott.

United Church Women's, Unit 1
program and tea held in the
auditorium on Wednesday
afternoon, The group leader,

Henderson, Mrs, Wallace
McBeath, and Mrs, John Moffat.
A very amusing skit of a church
service in the old days was
enjoyed.
Then we retired to the
recreation room and delicious
refreshments were served by the
Brucefield ladies. Everyone
reported a very enjoyable time in
the beautiful new Brucefield
United church.
and the girls were able to get
special problems cleared up to
our mutual satisfaction,
Mr. McKenzie advised that
secretaries could contact Mr.
Doriald MacKay, 15 Overlea

Toronto, Ontario for special
accounts which they were
endeavoring to get payments for
prior to OHIP, He also said that
the phone number for the Regional
Office in London is 433.4561 and
they will he pleased to offer any
help possible at any time.
The group was very pleased to
have Dr, P. L. Brady of Seaforth
and Mrs. J. Addison and Mrs. F.
M. Newland attend the meeting, as
well as other members, two of
whom were new.
Mrs. Margaret Sallows thanked
Mr. McKenzie and Mr's. Rogers,
and presented them with pens,
The group was advised that if at
any future date they would like to
arrange a Workshop, to contact
Mr. Delaney. They were also
invited to tour' the OHIP Regional
offices at a later date.
The next meeting is to include a
potluck supper at the home of
Secretary, Mrs. Lee Flowers, at
Bayfield.
Mrs. Verna Coates, was in charge
of the program with devotion by
Mrs. Barbara Bell. _Mrs. Mary
Kernick gave several himiourons'
readings.
There were dance numbers by
Tracy Coward, piano selections
by Mrs. Bert Francis and several
musical numbers by Mrs. Taylor
and Norman Speir accompanied
by Mrs. Thelma King. Lunch was
served by the ladies of the unit. A
member of the Exeter U.C.W.,
Mrs. Stone, thanked the ladies on
behalf of the residents.
The residents of Huronview
who are members of the North
Street United Church were taken
for a drive on Wednesday
afternoon and were guests of the
ladies at a dinner served at the
Huron Church Camp. On the same
afternoon, members of the
Wesley-Willis Church. Clinton,
were invited to a garden party at
the home of Mrs. Frank Fingland.
The Seaforth Girls School Band
provided the program for family
night with a band concert on the
lawn. All of the residents took
advantage of the concert with
some being on the lawn or being in
rooms on the west side of the
building. George Hilderbrand,
bandleader, has assured us they
will visit us again in September.
