The meeting was in charge of the vice- president, Mrs. Garth McClinchey who opened with singing of 0 Canada followed by the Lord's Prayer. The •minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read by the- secretary, Mrs. Worthy Young. The treasurer, Mrs, Thomas Cunningham presented the financial statement. Mrs. F. Cummings was named to look after arrangements of the trip. It was decided 'to have our next meeting and a picnic combined to be held in the Clinton Community Park on Monday afternoon June 26. The sports committee is Mrs. F. Cummings and Mrs, R. Colclough and Social committee is Mrs. L. Falconer and Mrs. G. Glazier. The program for the afternoon was a reading by Mrs, L. Falconer "How to Plant a Spring Garden" and two readings by Mrs. H, Adams "To-day's Modern Grandma" and "Why Grandma Can Be So Smart." The Dutch Auction winners were Mrs. E. Kendall, Mrs. J. Lucknow, of the St, Helens Branch of the Women's Institute was again named District president of Huron West at its '72 annual meeting held last Wednesday. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Harold Gaunt and Mrs. R. Parnell presided at the organ, Mrs, R. Holmes of Wingham welcomed the 96 delegates from St. Helens, Dungannon, Tiger Dunlop, Goderich, Clinton, Goderich Tol,kuship, Belgrave, Blyth. Auburn, Londesboro,. and Wingham branches. The minutes of the last District annual were accepted as read by the secretary-treasurer, Mrs, Graham McNee of Dungannon. She also gave out the financial statements of the branches and gave the District's report. Mrs. Robert Wilson, R,R. 5 Goderich gave the auditors report. It was decided to again sponsor the foster child and it was stated that the fee was' raised from $84,00 to $120.00 Mrs. Gaunt reported on her year's work among the branches, Mrs. Norman Coulthard of St, Pauls, federation board director for F.W.I.O, ratified the district directors. He spoke of his work with the Ministry of Community and Social service. Mayor De Witt Miller of the Town of Wingham brought grettings. Mrs. Charles Munro of Embro, London area chairman, brought grettings and announced the annual meeting at London on October 26 and 27 when special observance of the 75 anniversary of the founding of the W.I, will be observed and celebrated. Mrs. Victor Emmerson of White Church brought grettings from the Grey- Bruce area. The afternoon session began with the convention song led by Mrs. George Guest of Wingham. She also sang two solos during the session. A roll call of the branches was held with the presidents giving the highlights of the past year. An impressive "In Memoriam" service was held by Mrs. Ross Gammie, Mrs. Allan Miller and Mrs. Robert Aitchison of St. Helens. Those she remembered and honoured were Mrs. Charles Straughan, Mrs. Edgar Lawson, Auburn, Mrs. J.M. Coulees, Belgrave. Mrs. W.P. Abell, Goderich, Mrs. Harvey Hunking, Londesboro, Mrs. N. McLaughlin and Mrs. F. McCormick of Wingham. The guest speaker, Mrs. Robert Weber of Bloomingdale was introduced by Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock of Auburn. Mrs. Weber is secretary of the Officers' Conference. She reported on her work at the conference and spoke on the W.I. project—the Erland Lee homestead. She urged all to live by the Mary Stewart Collect and bring happiness to all we meet. She said that the, future begins to-day so prepare ourselves—the smallest deed is better than the best intention, She was thanked by the Goderich branch. The collection was received by the Londesboro branch. Mrs. Wilmer Rutledge invited the district to meet in Dungannon in 1973 and Mrs, Harry Girvin of Dungannon brought courtesies. During the morning session, a paper fashion dress parade was put on by Auburn members, Mrs. Donald Haines was commentator. The Clintonian Club met at the home of Mrs. Hopson on Thursday afternoon, June 1, The president opened the meeting with the Housewife's Creed followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. She also read a poem The Living Faith. The secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting. They were passed as read. The treasurer gave a very good financial report, The roll call was answered by 18 members naming their favorite fruit. The card committee had sent out several cards as reported by Mrs. G, Glazier. Mrs. H. Adams reported flowers and candy had been sent to sick members. There had been 21 visits made to sick and shut-ins the past month. A discussion on the picnic in London followed.
