Unit IV of Hensall U,C.W. met
on Thursday, June 1 with the
leader Mrs. J. McAllister
presiding.
The scripture reading from
Corinthians was read by Mrs,
Harry Caldwell. Mrs. McAllister
gave the devotional on Joy, and
also read an article written by
Rev, George W. Goth. The topic
was given by Mrs. Ernest
Chipchase on life and work of Dr.
Sidney Gilchrist in Africa.
Mrs. Luther and Mrs. Britton
sang a beautiful duet "A mazing
Grace" accompanied by Mrs. T.
Sherritt at the piano.
Roll call was answered by 29
members and I visitor, Mrs,
Sherritt gave the Treasurer's
report. It was reported that the
ladies had made 104 visits. Plans
were made to cater to the banquet
on June 22, and to have a dinner
meeting in September. Mrs. Rowe
reported for the Queensway
Nursing Home. Mrs. Russel
Errat reported on the bales sent,
Lunch was served by Mrs. Errat
and her committee.
CONFIRMATION AND
COMMUNION SERVICE IN
HENSALL UNITED CHURCH
On Sunday morning in Hensall
United Church, Confirmation and
Holy Communion was held. For
his sermon Rev. Don Beck chose
the theme "A War Within me".
Sixteen young people were
confirmed into the Church, They
were Kevin Wareing, Mike Veal,
Gail Travers, Patti Rowcliffe,
Cord Pryde, Cindy Parker, Doug
Kyle, Dan Crerar, Beth Crerar,
Steve Corbett, Kevin Buchanan,
Brad Buchanan, Ida Ann
Blackwell, Linda Beer, Jeff Beck
and Chris Beck, Three young
people who wished to reaffirm
their vows were Tom Travers,
Debbie Miller and Joan Forrest,
June 11-17 is Nursing Home
Week in Ontario. This week would
be an ideal chance to go to your
local nursing home and visit the
patients there, and also see the
crafts which the patients have
made. It just may make a patient's
day brighter. Also be sure to
attend the Bazaar, tea and bake
sale at the Queensway Nursing
Home on June 14 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Mrs, Ruby Bell introduced
Mrs. W. H, Adamson of London,
past treasurer of the Hamilton-
London Synodical, and who is
presently on the National Council
of Canada Board. Mrs. Adamson
spoke on the current finances of
the W.M.S She was thanked by
Mrs. Maggie Campbell. A hymn
was sung and the benediction was
pronounced by Mrs. W, D. Jarvis.
After the meeting, a birthday
cake was cut by Mr. Stewart
McQueen and Mr, W. R. Bell, two
of the oldest members of the
session. A delicious lunch
followed.

Building permits were issued to John
Peckitt, R.R. 4, Seaforth for a new barn: Ray
Consitt, R.R. 3, Kippen, an implement shed:
Robert Bell, Kippen, an implement shed; Gary
Finlayson, R.R. 2, Kippen, milking parlour.
Three tile drain loans were approved for a
total of $6,700. Passed for payment were
educational levies of $52,153 to Huron County
Board of Education and $4,750 to Huron-Perth
County Roman Catholic Separate School Board
and road accounts totalling $12,076.99.
Council approved a request for improved
street lighting at the new Brucefield United
Church. Ontario Hydro, with Reeve Elgin
Thompson, will decide on the location of the
new poles.
Council will advertise for tenders for a half
ton pick-up truck in Clinton, Exeter and
Seaforth weekly papers. These are to be in the
hands of the road superintendent. Alan
Nicholson, by July 4, 1972.
Council took no action on a request of a
lawyer, acting for William Brown of
Egmondville tore-issue his license for a car
wrecking yard. At a previous meeting, council
had refused to re-issue his license which had
expired because he broke the township by-law
by keeping car wrecks, old tractors and farm
machinery outside his fence at the wrecking
yard and by the frequent fires in his yard,
