AUCTION SALE From, our early fi les Continued from rap 4. The llensall Observer says: Brother Todd of the News-Record has got out a very handsome colored bill advertising the big demonstration to he held an Clinton on the 22nd of June. Friend Todd is _an honorable gentleman, not like some printers we know of "whu go to and fro in the earth and walk up and down in it." Rev. Mr, Millyard and Principal Lough have been initiated in howling on the green and very much enjoy the manly pastime. Last Wednesday evening about nine o'clock the fire alarm startled our citizens. The word was rapidly passed that the organ factory was on fire and a large crowd soon appeared at the works. The firemen were very prompt and James Walker had the Clarendon bus team hitched to the engine in remarkably quick time and taken to the tank on Rattenbury Street. Workmen had been laying a tin roof of large dimensions and the work was nearly completed, The fire pot was left, as the workmen thought, in safe condition, but the increasing evening breeze fanned the dying embers until the sparks ascended and descended from the fire pot. This was taken as an indication that the immense buildings were on fire, hence the alarm, While there does not appear to have been serious danger, it is just as well that the discovery was made anti to know that our firemen are so prompt when a call to duty is suddenly given, 15.
