Amber Rebekah Lodge meets

Another Rebekah Lodge met
recently in the Lodge rooms with
Noble Grand Mrs. Olga Chipchase
presiding and being assisted by
vice-Grand Mrs. Dorothy Beaton.
The Vice Grand reported that
cards and plants had been sent to
the Kyle and Broderick families.
Several officers and members of
the Lodge attended Morning Star
Lodge, Brussels, and presented
the Travelling Gavel to members
of that Lodge, Mrs. Chipchase
gave a report on the 00th
anniversary of Edelweiss Lodge,
Seaforth, and also the Past
Grand's Night at the Emerald
Lodge, Parkhill,
An invitation was received
from Pride of Huron Rebekah
Lodge, Exeter, to attend the 25th
anniversary of the Institution of
their. Lodge June 7. Mrs. Vera
Lem m on was appointed a Trustee
of the Lodge, Nominations for
officers for the next year's team
followed and will be opened at the
regular meeting on June 7. It was
reported that tickets are still
available from any member of the
Rebekah Lodge on the afghan and
blanket.
CARMEL PRESBYTERIAN
CHURCH ANNIVERSARY
Carmel Presbyterian Church
obserVed their 12th Anniversary
on Sunday, May 21, with Rev.
Dennis Clarke, Atwood, as the
guest speaker. Rev. W.D. Jarvis
assisted in the service. The choir
was assisted by the Junior choir
and rendered two anthems
"Savior more than life", and "I
have found my Lord". Mrs.
Malcolm Dougall presided at the
organ and led the choir. Rev.
Clarke delivered an inspiring
sermon entitled "What's it all
about". On Sunday May 28, the
I.O.O.F. and Amber Rebekah
Lodge's were guests at the
service in the Carmel Church.

95TH ANNIVERSARY OF
ST, PAULS ANGLICAN CHURCH
The 95th anniversary of St.
Pools Anglican Church was held
last Sunday evening with a good
attendance. The Church was
beautifully decorated with tulips
and lilacs. The service was
conducted by Rev. G.A. Anderson.
Dr. T.M.B. Parker, London, a
former rector read the lessons.
Rev. J. Phillip Landon A.L.C.D.,
London, also a former rector
gave the address. The text was
taken from Isaiah, The combined
choirs of Hensall and Exeter
Churches led the singing with
Mrs, F, Forrest at the console of
the organ. Mrs. Maralyn
Zibkovic, Exeter, sang "How
Great Thou Art", accompanied by
Mr. Bob Mackintosh. Mrs. Maud
Connon, Mrs. Pat Dobbs and Miss
Patricia Connon sang two lovely
trios entitled "God gives his
people strength" and "Come
Rejoicing".
Following the service, lunch
was served in the parish hall. The
honor of cutting the Anniversary
cake was given to Mrs. Jared,
Arva, a former member of St,
Paul's Chureh. Her Father Rev.
W.J. Doherty, having been rector
of this parish for a number of
years,

The W.M.S. of Carmel
Presbyterian Church are
celebrating their 82nd
anniversary on June 5 at 8:15 p.m.

Catharines, Past President of the

Mrs. W.H. Adamson, London, who
is Treasurer of the Hamilton-

Magic Circle Unit of Wesley-
Willis UCW was held at Mrs.
Harvey Howard's home on East
St.
The leader, Mrs. Oliver,
opened the meeting with a poem
"A beautiful Recipe" followed by
prayer. The theme of the worship
period was "on the mountain-top"
and was in charge of Mrs. A. L.
Rodges, Mrs. Elmer Hugill read
the Scripture and the meditation
was taken by Mrs. Milton Steepe.
Mrs. Rodges closed with a prayer
and the Lord's Prayer was
repeated in unison.
The special speaker for the
evening was Mrs. Luther from
Zurich. She was introduced by
Mrs. Hodges. Her topic was
"Angels'". She began by teaching
the ladies to sing a chorus
"Surely goodness and mercy".
Mrs, Luther played the organ and
herself sang several numbers. In
her address, she compared
seraphim, cherubim and angels
and explained the difference in
these, as quoted in the Bible in
numerous passages. The talk
proved very interesting to
everyone present.
Mrs. Doug Bartliff thanked
Mrs, Luther and a gift of
appreciation was presented,
After the business session, Mrs,
Harold Wise gave a report on the
workshop held at 1st United
Church, St. Thomas, to which she
was a delegate.

Mrs, Garnet Mousseall,
Ridgetown, spent last week
visiting with Mrs. Olive Kyle.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Page and
David, Burlington, visited over
the past week-end with Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Horton.
1ST HENSALL BROWNIE PACK
ENJOY HIKE
The Brownies of the 1st Hensall
pack and their leaders enjoyed a
hike to the bush where they held
their annual wiener roast and
exploration of nature, Theresa
Charrette presented a gift from
all the Brownies to Tawny Owl,
Mrs, Eric Luther, in appreciation
of her four years of leadership
with the pack. Mrs. Luther who
has directed the Brownie choir,
will be greatly missed when we
resume in the fall, A Mother and
Daughter banquet is scheduled for
June 22. This concludes activities
until fall. The Brownie pack is
under the leadership of Brown
Owl, Mrs, Rodger Venner and
Tawny Owl, Mrs. Cecil Pepper.
Anygirl who is seven and wishes
to join the Brownie pack in the fall
should contact Brown Owl before
September.
C.O.C. AND EXPLORERS
OF CARMEL PRESBYTERIAN
CHURCH
The C.O.C. and Explorers of
the Carmel Presbyterian Church
combined last Sunday morning
with twelve present. Everyone
enjoyed a film entitled —"Sing
the glory of Africa". The offering
was taken up by Allan Bell. This
meeting concluded the activities
for the C.O.C. and Explorers until
fall.

The regular meeting of Kippen
U. C .W. met on May 24 at the home
of Mrs. Robert Elgie.
Mrs. Wm Bell, President,
opened the meeting with a poem
"Recipe for Living". Mrs. Jack
Sinclair gave the Devotional, the
subject of which, was Faith, Mrs.
Rae Consitt read the Scripture.
Hymns were sung and Mrs.
Sinclair closed the Worship
period with a poem.
During the business portion of
the meeting the minutes were
read by Mrs. Edison McLean and
approved; the treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. Ken McLellan;
the Sunshine Report by Mrs. N.
Dickert, the Rose report by Mrs,
Laird Finlayson; the visiting
report by Mrs. W. L. Mellis and
the Correspondence was read by
Mrs. T. Reid.
Mrs, Robert Kinsman,
introduced the guest speaker,
Mrs. Lemond of Cromarty who
gave an interesting, informative
talk interspersed with humour
The evening unit of Ontario St.
Church held their regular
meeting on May 22 in the church
parlor.
Mrs. Clayton Groves showed
slides on Africa which was very
interesting. Mrs. Ross
Trewartha gave a reading and a
hymn was sung with Elva Wilse at
the piano, Mrs. Murray Forbes
read the scripture and led in
prayer. The business was opened
with the minutes being read by the
secretary and roll call, answered
with home and hospital calls.
Mrs. Art Aiken read the
treasurer's report and seconded
by Mrs. George Wright. Mrs,
Cecil Elliott reported for the
social committee and several
functions in the church requiring
meals were discussed. The
Shuffelboard Club bought 12
coffee spoons and a 30-cup
percolator and presented it to the
U,C.W. to be used in the church.
On a motion by Mrs. Ross
Trewartha and seconded by Mrs.

following an appendectomy.
Young People's Anniversary
Services were held in St. Andrews
Church Kippen Sunday May 28
with the Rev. Donald Stuart,
former pastor of Kippen, in
charge. Special music was
provided by the Junior choir and
scripture readings by Gregory
Love and Bill McGregor. St.
Andrews Church, Kippen
presented their sister charge
Brucefield with lamps for the
pulpit and a cheque for $1000.00
Mrs. Norman Long visited the
village this week.
Magic Circle unit studies Angels
Art Aiken it was decided that the
bale will be packed on May 23 and
sent to London.
The flowers for the church for
June is in charge of the evening
unit. On June 6 is Visitor's Day at
Brucefield Church. There is to be
a retreat at Camp Menesetung on
June 14, Registration begins at
9:30 with everybody to take a box
lunch. After some discussion
about the June meeting, the
Mizpah Benediction was repeated
and a delicious lunch was served
by Mrs. George Wright and her
group.
