"There is a great need for interested and
dedicated people and organizations to take an
active part as sponsors, executives, business
managers, publicity people, officials for track
meets and many other of the important jobs
involved in the formation of a track and field
club," Mr. Knuckey stressed, "No matter
what your occupation experience, all that is
necessary is an interest in youth and their
fitness and track and field in general,"
The area co-ordinator also pointed out that
assistance was needed in the executive or
governing body. The consists of five adults
elected or appointed annually by members
and-or sponsors.
Officials of this body are chairman, vice-

:Wriest chairman. A sub-committee, he said,

1 Farm machinery does wear out
and replacement parts are
required. When this occurs the
cultivating or seeding program
could be delayed, says Hal
Wright, Secretary-Manager of the
Ontario Farm Machinery
Advisory Board,
Most of the 'farm machinery
parts depots can fill 90 to 92
percent of the daily orders
received from the dealers, Parts
orders received prior to 3 p.m.
are normally shipped the same
day, Mr. Wright said.
All major farm machinery
companies now use Telex. This
allows them to determine in a
matter of minutes, whether these
parts are in Edmonton, Montreal,
Winnipeg, Racine, wherever
parts depots are located. Then
it's just a question of deciding
which depot can ship the part the
fastest and-or cheapest, said Mr,
Wright.
Not all "back orders" are an
emergency, and if there is no rush
the part can be shipped the
cheapest way, However, if the
machine is broken down and
production is being delayed the
decision is up to the customer.
Mr. Wright advises that you make
sure your dealer knows it is an
emergency. Let the dealer know
you're prepared to pay for long
distance phone calls and air
express charges. He can then
demand action and get your
machine in operation as soon as
possible.
CNX, CPX, and trucking
companies do not make pickups on
Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Parts depots maintain a skeleton
staff on Saturdays and holidays
during the. production season but
the dealer must make the pickup
himself, since there is no public
transportation,
Mr. Wright pointed out that
delays in corn planting usually
result in one bushel less per acre,
per day of delay in planting.

meets in Seaforth During the summer of 1971,ethe Youth and

duration, in co-operation with the Ontario
ommand of the Royal Canadian Legion, began
track and field program aimed at athletes
ged 10 to 15.
With some revisions, this program is now
oing into operation in the Counties of Huron
ed Perth under the direction of co-ordinator
ob Knuckey, a physical education graduate
ram Toronto,
The province has been divided into eight
areas and two regional co-ordinators have

Miss Eileen O'Brien of Goderich, a teacher
at St. Mary's School there, was elected
president of the Ontario English Catholic
Teachers Association at the annual meeting in
Seaforth Thursday. She succeeds Patrick
Monaghan of Stratford.
Other officers elected are: vice-presidents,
Sister Mary St. Louis, Seaforth, and Adrian
Pontsioen of Stratford: recording secretary,
Sister Rosemary Alban; corresponding
secretary, Mrs, Arthur McMichael,
Goderich; treasurer, James Steffler,
Wingham; councillors, Sister Mary Van Hu
and Ronald Gladding, both of Stratford;
Teacher-Trustee Committee, Miss Mary
Flannery, Seaforth: Glen Steffler.
Kingsbridge; Ennis Murphy, Stratford; Sister
Marion, St. Columban and Miss Evelyn
Beaupre, Stratford.
Two teachers, who are retiring at the end of
June, were honoured at the dinner meeting,
Mrs. Esther Kelly of Dublin who has taught for
15 years and Mrs. Mary Murray of Dublin, for
24 years.
Sister Shirley of Stratford spoke briefly,
saying that teaching is not just a profession but
it is an art because you are teaching persons,
each with his particular set of problems.
She said that truth is the basic concern, and
that teachers join parents in making a person
grow in telling him what the universe means
and what he can hope for in helping him to
realize what his place is in the universe.
She said teachers are always concerned
about challenging students but without
realizing it we are always challenging them,
but the situation is so complicated that
sometimes we've lost confidence in
ourselves—we don't want to accept the cross,
She urged that the important thing was to
show concern for the person and not say: "I
love you because I need you, I love you,
therefore I need you". When your education is
better for persons, she concluded, it will be
better Catholic education.
