1972-73 president of Clinton
Lions Club at a joint meeting of
Clinton.and Seaforth clubs in St.
Paul's Parish Hall, Tuesday
evening, May 23. Mr, Price lives
at R.R.2, Clinton, where he is the
owner of Clere-Vu Auto
Wreckers, He takes over from
Antoine "Red" Qaron.

was held at the home of Ann
Adams in Londesboro. The
Opening Ritual was repeated and

FOUR NEW LIONS
The Clinton club initiated four
new Lions: Hugh Flynn R.1,
Londesboro, who is also reeve of
Hullett Township; Al Mathers,
owner-manager of Stedmans
Store; Eugene McAdam, owner of
Me/edam Hardware and Harold
Wise, owner of Harold Wise
Limited, a local plumbing
business,
Past president E.B. Menzies
officiated at the initiation
ceremony.
Both clubs held short business
meetings during the evening.
Clinton Lions hold their last
dinner meeting on Tuesday, June
13 and their annual golf tourney at
Seaforth course on Wednesday,
June 28.

The publicity chairman is Sharon
Carter.
The culture programme was
titled Sculpture and Painting and
was given by Marj Dobson and
Vivian Ray. They gave excellent
information on the topic using
several illustrations. They also
included members in discussions

sculptures.
The closing ritual followed and
lunch and social time enjoyed.

ceremony of their daughter,

James Burditt, son .of Captain and

Ste. Marie.
The wedding took place
Saturday, May 6, 1972 at the
Salvation Army Chapel in St.
Thomas, Ontario.
Guests attended from
Hamilton, Bayfield, Toronto,
Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay,
Guelph, London and Dutton,
The couple are residing in
Woodstock.
LADIES AUXILIARY
The Ladig Auxiliary to Sea
Scouts, Rangers, Cubs and
Brownies held a meeting May 16
at the home of Mrs. Audrey Bunn
with 10 mothers present,
Final plans were completed for
the Euchre and Bridge party held
on Thursday, May 18, and
discussed plans for a Bake Sale
set for August 4, All mothers to be
contacted.
A cub leader is desperately
needed, There are still a few
meetings to be held before
disbanding for the summer
months. Anyone who would be
willing to help is asked to contact
Joe Mayman, chairman of the
Group Committee.
The next L.A. meeting is
scheduled for Tuesday,
September 19 at the home of Mrs.
Dawna Westlake. •

A very successful Euchre and
Bridge party was held Thursday
evening in the Municipal Building,
sponsored by the Ladies'
Auxiliary to Sea Scouts, Rangers,
Brownies and Cubs.
Thanks to the helpers,
donations etc., they cleared a
little over $70.00.
Winners for euchre were Judy
Dykstra, Donelda Sturgeon and
lone hand prize Judy Dykstra.
Men's prizes to George Clark,.
Les Elliott and lone hands George
Clark,
Bridge winners were Mrs.
George Youmatoff, Gordon
Graham and Mary Clark.
Special draw prizes went to
Mrs. Willits, Audrey Bunn,

Mrs. E. R. Weston visited
during the weekend in London with
Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Weston.

Mr. and Mrs. E.3. Roberts and
family spent the holiday week-end
in North Bay, visiting with Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Mennen.
Capt. and Mrs, J.R. seer,
Steven and Johh, Camp Borden,
spent the holiday week-end With
Mr. and Mrs, Peed Beer, and also
visited relatives in grussetS and
Walton,
Mr. Dave Beer, London, Spent
the week-end with his
grandparents Mr, and Mrs, Fred
H.H. Ormond who are all confined
to hospital.
Rev, and Mrs. F. H. Paull and
her sister Miss Carrie Dixon
Should have some exciting
eXperiences to relate when they
return from ,a vacation in
England.
The Peulls and Miss Dixon
were aboard the Queen Elizabeth
2, travelling to England which was
reputed to have had six bombs
aboard that were to have been
detonated last Thursday unless a
huge ransom was paid. However,
the massive liner reached
Cherbourg, France safely Friday
evening.

An accident happened in the
Village late Sunday evening when
a car driven by Mr, Charles
Chapman of London went out of
control on the curve at the B.P.
service station, It apparently
skidded sideways across a
boulevard ending up against an
already wrecked car in the B.P.
station lot. The driver . was '
unhurt, but extensive damage
resulted to the Chapman vehicle,
MRS. NORMA EILEEN WALLIS
Mrs. Norma Eileen Wallis,
Hayfield, passed away Monday,
May 15, 1972 in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, following a
short illness.
Mrs. Wallis was born on the
Hayfield Line, March 1, 1912 the
daughter of Arthur Welsh and
Olive Holland. She was raised on
the Hayfield Line and attended
school there. On September 15,
1937 she married Frederick
Walter Wallis at the home of her
parents. He predeceased her June
2, 1964. They farmed on the Blue
Water Highway following their
marriage and Norma continued to
reside there until five years ago
when she moved into Hayfield.
Mrs. Wallis was a member of
the Eastern Star Lodge in Clinton,
Hayfield Senior Citizens,
Hayfield and Huron County
Historical Society, Hayfield
Euchre and Bridge Club, and one-
time correspondent for the
Clinton News-Record for the Blue
Water Highway and Lane 0' Pines.
She also helped organize the
Guides and Brownies in Hayfield
and was secretary of the local
Organization when formed on
March 18, 1953 and subsequently
held office for a number of years.
Mrs. Wallis was a member of.
St, Andrews United Church, a
choir member and a member of
the U.C.W. She was an esteemed
resident of the Village; a kindly
person, and highly regarded by all
those who knew her, She will be
greatly missed in the
organizations to which she
belonged, and by the many people
she was never too busy to help in
any way.
Mrs. Warne is survived by one
son Gerry Wallis of Thunder Bay
and one daughter, Cathryn, Mrs,
Bruce Pyatt of R.R,1, Hayfield,
five grandchildren and two step-
sisters, Helen, Mrs. Edgar
Rathwell, Goderich and Donna,
Mrs, Harold Tyndall, Clinton.
The funeral was held,
Wednesday, May 17 at 2:30
o'clock from Beattie Funeral
Home, Clinton. Rev. James
Reddoce, St. Andrews United
Church, Hayfield officiated with
interment in Clinton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Edgar
Rathwell, Goderich, Robert
Welsh, Harold Tyndall of Clinton,
Doug Wallis, Bill Parker and Jim
Hutchings; Bayfield,
LOCAL BUSINESS
CHANGES OWNERSHIP
Mrs.. Ilse Grilimayer has
recently purchased the Bayfield
Barber and Beauty Salon,
fortnerly owned by Ken and
Marion•Mackie.
Mrs. Grillmayer was born in
Austria and came to make Canada
her home in 1966. She has two
children, Richard five and Tanya,
three.
Ilse comes to Hayfield, highly
recommended as a ladies' and
men's hairstylist and a barber.
She has studied and practised for
14 years in Austria and Canada,
taking extended courses in
modern styling, specializing in
long hair, hair pieces, cleaning
and styling wigs and beard
shaping.
Mr. and Mrs. Mackie have
purchased the former Phil
Gemeinhardt residence on the
corner of Sydenham and Elizabeth
Sts. Their future plans are
indefinite, but for the present they
are residing here along with their
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Russ Kerr, were
guests at the recent Hulls-Burditt
wedding in St. Thomas.
