HURON CHRISTIAN MEN'S ASSOCIATION
If 1 were the Prince of Darkness / would want to
engulf the whole earth in darkness...So l should set
about, however necessary, to take over North
America, / would begin with a campaign of
whispers... To the young I would whisper, "The Bible
is a myth. "i would convince there that "man created
God, " instead of the other way around, I'd Confide
that what is bad is good and what is good is square, In
the ears of the young married 1 would whisper that
work is debasing, that cocktail parties are good for
you, / would caution them not to be "extreme" ih
religion, in patriotism, in moral conduct. I'd educate
authors in how to make lurid literature exciting... I'd
peddle narcotics to whom I could, I'd sell alcohol to Paul Harvey
ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I'd tranquilize
therestwithpills,„rd designate an atheist to front Radio-TV
for me before the Highest Courts and I'd get News Commentator
preachers to say, "She's right!" (From You Said It,
Paul Harvey!)
in a period of less than ten years l can say that i, in .
spite of a skeptiFal SPientlficelly trained mind, came to
recognize Jesus Christ as Saviour, actually ex-
periencing the Joy of direct communication with Him, I
(mind that miracles exist and that God Is a personal
God who cares for the Indivlekrat—In feet, He cared
enough to die for me. (From This is My Story, This Is
My Song, Spire). in this bock Mr. Hines, who shares
sincere concern about America's spiritual mooring,
tells the remarkable story of why and how he wrote the
opera, I am the Way, and performed the lead role be-
fore Premier Kruschey during the height of the Cuban
missile crises.)

It was while I was in the Holy Lend _tor _the purpese
of making three BBC Television programs on the New
Testament that .a certainty seized rrla about Jesus'
birth, ministry and crucifixion. l became aware that
there really had been a man, Jesus, who was also
God; I was conscious of His, presence .. He really
had died on a cross and risen from the dead .
Jesus is alive and very truth. The cross is where his-
tory and life lime and eternity, intersect .
Some suppose that you can have a Christian civ-
ilization without Christian values, 1 disbelieve this, I
think that the hasis of order Is a moral order; if there is
no moral order there will be no political or 4ocial order
„ . This is how civilizations end. (From Jesus Re-
discovered, 0 Doubleday & Co., inc.)
