The A.C.W. of St, James'
Anglican Church, Middleton,
enjoyed a special evening, on
Thursday May 11, at St. ,James'
Church, when they entertained the
ladies from. Trinity Church,
Bayfield, as well as neighbours
and friends from Clinton and
district, at a centennial meeting,
in a continuing celebration of the
100th Anniversary of St, James'
Church.
At 8 p.m. the members held a
short business meeting in the S.S.
rooms, where the usual reports
were presented, noting that $20
had been realized from our Thank
Offering and was presented at the
Anneal Meeting in London, at
which Mrs. Don Middleton and
Mrs, Joe Storey were delegates.
Correspondence consisted of
thank you cards from Mrs.
Art Middleton, and Mrs, Roy
Wise.
The Spring Deanery of South
Saugeen will be held in Exeter on
May 29 with the Right Reverend
H.G. Cook, Suffragan Bishop of
Athabasca as guest speaker,
It was decided for the A.C. W. to
assist Mrs, Ross Middleton at
Carrying out plans for a picnic on
July 2, at their residence„
following a special centennial
service in the church,
At 8:30 p.m. the meeting
adjourned to join the guests
upstairs where Mrs. Fred
Middleton and Mrs. Jack Smith
had greeted the visitors at the
door. Don Middleton, president,
expressed a warm welcome to the
guests and then turned the
meeting over to Mrs. Alvin Dutot
who was in charge of the program,
along with her assistants Mrs.
Fred Middleton and Mrs, Jack
Cole.
Mrs. Dutot read a lovely poem
which was followed by prayers.
We were then favoured with a
beautiful solo by Rev, Youmatoff,
who sang "The Lords' Prayer"
accompanied on the organ by Mrs.
Storey.
Mrs. Don Middleton gave a very
interesting resume of her
MRS. ALLAN KEYS
Mrs. Allan Keys of Ottawa,
passed away suddenly on May 5,
1972 as a result of a heart attack.
She was in her 51st year.
Surviving are her husband, a
daughter Elizabeth, a sister.
Mrs. Brian Marshall, Toronto
and mother, Mrs. Beulah
Thompson of Toronto,
The funeral was conducted by
Rev. James Lawson on May 8th at
the Hulse and Playfair Chapel,
McLeod St., Ottawa. Interment in
Pinecrest Cemetery.
Attending the funeral from this
area were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Keys and Murray of London and
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Keys and
Linda of Hensall.
ELIZABETH JANE CARTER
Elizabeth Jane Carter of
Huronview, died at her home on
May 8, 1972. She was in her 75th
year.
Born in Hullett township on
April 26, 1898, she was the
daughter of the late John and Jane
Johnston. She lived all her life in
the Clinton area.
She attended the United Church
until her illness and since had
attended chapel services at
Huronview on a regular basis.
She is survived by one son. Max
of Egmonciville, and one daughter.
Mrs. Wes (Marjorie) McBride of
Varna.
Three brothers, Edward and
Lorne of Exeter and Jack of
Goderich and seven
grandchildren, also survive,
Funeral service was held from
the Ball Funeral Home, Clinton on
May 11 with the Rev. McWhinnie
of Goderich, pastor at Huronview,
officiating, Burial was in Clinton
cemetery. Pallbearers were
Bruce, Murray, Ray, Garnet and
Ken McBride and Bill Carter.
ALBERT ELGIN COX
Albert Elgin Cox of Goderich
township, died April 27 in
Victoria Hospital, London, Mr,
Cox had been in hospital for five,
weeks Since suffering injury in an
accident while cutting trees. He
was 47 years of age.
He was born March 10, 1925 in
Goderich township, the son of
Albert Cox and Florence
Trewartha, lie received his
education at SS No. 5, Goderich
township,
He married the former Phyllis
evaluation of the Annual Meeting
held in London, where Dr, Helen
Milton of Windsor was the guest
speaker and spoke on the theme of
the meeting "The New You".
Mrs. Jack Cole read an
inspiring reading on "Joy",
The highlight of the evening was.
when Mrs, Fred Middleton,
introduced Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Nelson, of Clinton who showed
their pictures of a trip they
enjoyed to England, Scotland and
Wales. As well they showed many
beautiful slides of flowers and
gardens throughout Ontario, and
local Clinton and district
horticulturalists as well. In
closing aside from all the
beautiful colors of spring the
groups saw a reminder of old man
Winter in some snow scenes.
Mrs. Jack Cole thanked Mr, and
Mrs. Nelson on behalf of everyone
and presented them with gift of
appreciation for a most enjoyable
program, At this point, all
returned to the Sunday School
where a plant sale took place. Mr.
and Mrs. Durst, from the "Durst
Garden Centre" of Clinton, set up
a display of flowers, vegetables.
and rose bushes etc as well as
some donations of plants from
members.
The centennial church plates
and recipe hooks were also on
display. Rev. Youmatoff closed
the meeting with prayer and the
ladies served a delicious lunch.
The many friends of Mrs.
Stewart Middleton, will be happy
to learn she is at her home
recuperating, after her
confinement in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London. We all wish her
a speedy recovery.
Miss Sandra Wise, who has
completed her nurses training,
graduated on Friday May12, when
Graduation Exercises were held
at the Ontario Department of
Health Nursing Assistant Centre
in London. Those in attendance
were her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Wise and Dennis Kelly of
London.

3,1947 and the couple farmed in
Goderich township until Mr.
Cox's death.
He is survived, besides his
wife, by six children, Mrs.
Michael (Julie) Boucher, London;
Lawrence, Kevin, Rodney, Robert
and Marilyn, all at home. One
sister., Mrs.,Ray .(Estelle). Wise
and one brother, Keith of
Winnipeg also survive,
Funeral service was held April
29 from the Ball Funeral Home,
Clinton with Rev. Andrew Mowatt
officiating. Burial was in
Maitland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chester
Sturdy, Earl Cox, John
Westbrook, William Townshend,
and Ray Wise, all of Goderich
township and Kenneth Trewartha,
London.
Flowerbearers were John
Manning, John Sturdy and Donald
Wise, all of Goderich township.
